James Iovine, dettoJimmy (New York,11 marzo1953), è unproduttore discografico eimprenditorestatunitense, nonchépresidente del consiglio di amministrazione dellaInterscope-Geffen-A&M.
Proveniente da una famiglia originaria diIschia (NA)[1], inizia la sua carriera a metà degli anni '70 come tecnico del suono per artisti comeJohn Lennon eBruce Springsteen. A poco a poco riesce a farsi un nome nell'ambiente producendo album perU2,Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers,Stevie Nicks,Simple Minds,Dire Straits ePatti Smith.
Nel1990 diventa cofondatore dellaInterscope Records, diventata poco tempo dopo la Interscope Geffen A&M in seguito all'acquisizione dellaPolygram da parte dellaUniversal Records. Fu allora che Iovine viene nominato co-presidente del consiglio di amministrazione dell'etichetta discografica, per diventarne nel2001 unico presidente.
Nel2002 Iovine co-produce il film diEminem8 Mile e nel2004, insieme aPaul Rosenberg, firma un accordo tra laParamount Pictures eMTV Films per la loro etichetta Interscope/Shady/Aftermath. Il primo film prodotto in seguito a quel contratto è statoGet Rich or Die Tryin, con50 Cent. Nel gennaio del2008, Iovine,Dr. Dre eMonster Cable sponsorizzano gli auricolari ad alta prestazione "Beats by Dr. Dre". Iovine è ancheproduttore esecutivo insieme aLeBron James eMaverick Carter del documentarioMore Than A Game, che è arrivato nelle sale cinematografiche americane nell'autunno del2009.
È stato sposato con lascrittrice ed ex modellaVicki Iovine, autrice diThe Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy e con cui ha avuto quattro figli.
