ISB for All
At ISB, we believe embracing our differences strengthens our science, sparks innovation, and drives greater discovery. We value:
- The unique perspectives and contributions of every individual
- Open dialogue that welcomes new ideas and constructive feedback
- Expanding access to scientific training, education, and outreach
- A culture where everyone feels heard, supported, and empowered
A foundational element of ISB is to make quality STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education a reality for every student.
Recruitment and retention of outstanding research staff is ISB’s top priority.

“When we’re all looking at the same problems from multiple perspectives, that’s when it gets interesting.”
Dr. Jim Heath, ISB President and Professor

Faculty Development
Unlike most of academia, ISB provides faculty the opportunity to focus specifically on research without classroom teaching requirements. Our faculty mentorship program enables success and sustainability by linking assistant professors with senior faculty who provide advice and support. As an organization, we value work-life balance, are committed to diversity, and foster a cross-disciplinary environment that enables us to take on big, complex problems.
