Expanding the world of physics
IOP Publishing is a society-owned scientific publisher, providing impact, recognition and value for the scientific community. IOP Publishing’s portfolio includes more than 90 journals, around half of which are published jointly with or on behalf of partner societies and research organisations. Our publishing portfolio reflects the growth of scientific research in core scientific fields, while recognising the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of scientific research.
Who we are
IOP Publishing is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Institute of Physics. Our net income goes directly to the IOP to assist their mission to help everyone build their knowledge of physics and to provide professional support for physicists.
What we do
We work closely with researchers, librarians and partners worldwide to produce academicjournals,books andconference proceedings.
We also have ascience news and media portfolio which includesPhysics World, a trusted source of science news.
Our aim is to publish the latest and best research in the physical sciences and beyond, and make that research available to as many people as possible. All our academic publications are hosted on IOPScience, a platform specifically designed to help readers quickly and easily access the content we publish.
We also provide a range of services to help the scientific community register, validate, edit, disseminate, preserve and maximise their research.
Open Physics
Making universal access to research a reality is a priority. We believe conducting science more openly can accelerate scientific discovery and we are committed to supporting the wider adoption of open practices across the physical sciences. We call this approach Open Physics and we have developed a programme of activities to make it a reality.

Playing a positive role in the community and considering our environmental and social impact is important to us.

Our Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is composed of an experienced group of executive and non-executive directors who meet regularly throughout the year and oversee the management of the company.
