What Gary Lineker’s political party might support

Former footballer and TV pundit Gary Lineker voiced some concerns this post-Election this week, tweeting “Anyone else feel politically homeless? Everything seems far right or way left. Something sensibly centrist might appeal?” Apparently it did, to almost 16,000 of his followers who liked his message, as well as the hundreds who responded to his call for a new party.

People were quick to suggest possible names for his putative party, with En Marche of the Day and Centre Forward proving popular.

While Lineker’s Twitter feed contains plenty of football chat, it’s also become an increasingly political place since he spoke out about the treatment of Syrian refugees last year.
The treatment by some towards these young refugees is hideously racist and utterly heartless. What's happening to our country?

Since then he’s become increasingly vocal about his political views, with some fans suggesting that he should have joined forces with Labour in the run up to the election. Now, though, he seems to be taking the ball and running with it, expressing measured, albeit left-of-centre views and replying to his critics swiftly and decisively.
This is why I love social media. It gives a voice to people who deserve one.https://t.co/WF3NBFPMHy

In the age of Trump, akerfuffle about taxand a vested interest in crisps hardly seem barriers to political office. So what would he be like as a politician?
Pro EU
“The E.U. has its weaknesses, but it’s been pretty good for us and it’s been pretty good for Europe and it’s kept peace,” he told theNew York Times, which ran aprofile of him earlier this year…
Those meddling EU buggers attempting to deliver fairness again. Won't do.https://t.co/qmmIQTjbKN

…and up for another referendum
Reckon if there was another Brexit referendum, remain would romp home. Awareness of how we were duped & young would vote in droves. Hey-ho.

On board with residents’ rights
Confirmed that 600 buildings in UK have similar cladding to Grenfell Tower. A scandal that surely must be addressed immediately.

On the side of public-sector workers
What a time to vote for a pay freeze on public sector workers. Surely we should be rewarding our heroes.

Human in the face of terrorism
Another day, another senseless, hateful attack on the innocent. Let's hope we don't allow society's rotten eggs to tear us apart.

Not keen on a DUP deal
This DUP lot seem to be a delightful bunch. 'The will of the people', I guess.

In favour of empowering the young
Huge turnout of young voters. Well played all of you. You can't win anything without kids.
