found:Encyc. of Ukraine:v. 3, p. 367-8 (Medzhybizh [Medžybiž] (historical name: Mezhybizh). Town on the Boh River in Letychiv raion, Khmelnytskyi oblast. First mentioned n Hypatian Chronicle under the year 1146. It became an important center in the Galicia-Volhynia Principality. Medzhybizh was captured by Tatars in 1241 and recaptured in 1255. In 1362 the town became part of Lithuania and in 1569 it was transferred to Poland. In 1666 the town was captured by the Turks who held it for 27 years. In 1793 it was transferred to Russia)
