Farah Maalim makes 'shocking' claims about Kenyan mercenaries

Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faraah Maalim has weighed in on the instability that has rocked neighbouring Ethiopia for years.

In a fiery tweet, Mr Maalim laid the blame at the feet of what he called mercenaries from Kenya who served the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), a rebel group that has been responsible for a lot of destruction.

He accused those supporting Dr Abiye and Mustafa Cagjar of hypocrisy and political opportunism.

Ethiopia and Eritrea have been locked in a vicious diplomatic struggle that has ground for years.

In recent weeks, the tensions between the two countries have reduced following initiatives from the countries' leaders.
