Between 1907 and 1915, collecting and sending picturepostcards became a national craze. It was so fashionable, and the variety of cards so rich, that the period was dubbed the “Golden Age of Postcards.” Scenic destinations like the Capitol were popular subjects amongst the hundreds of millions of image-adorned cards that crisscrossed the United States. This selection of “Golden Age” postcards from theHouse Collection of Art and Artifacts shows the Capitol campus inside and out.
