Bridget Smith Discusses Candidacy for SD 16

WOLF POINT, Mont. (NMB) – In a crowded Democratic primary race for Senate District 16, which stretches from Box Elder to just west of Culbertson, Bridget Smith believes her political and agricultural experience sets her apart.
Smith, a Wolf Point resident, has represented House District 31 since 2013, but was unable to run for re-election because of term limits.
“Having been there now eight years, I know the ins-and-outs, and who the lobbyists are that you can trust, and who the ones are that you can’t trust. I believe integrity is a very valuable commodity, and I think most of my constituents here would say that I have integrity.”
Smith says during her time in the state house, she is most proud of her work protecting healthcare.
“In fact we passed by taking on the Affordable Care Act for the first four years. We then did take it in 2017, and I think it’s been very beneficial to Montana. Especially with the COVID virus happening.”
Smith has been a farmer and rancher for around 30 years and also has experience as a social worker and substitute school teacher.
Smith says one piece of legislation she would like to work on in the Senate is origin of labeling on beef products.
