Basics

Table 1.Basics

Field

Description

Server name

The distinguished name of the server assignedduring server registration.

Server title

An optional server description

Domain name

The name of theDomino® domainof which this server is a member. The domain name is specified duringserver registration.

Fully qualified Internet host name

The fully-qualified Internet host name of theDomino® server, for example,host1.acme.com.

Cluster name

Name of aDomino® clusterto which this server belongs. This is a read-only field and is completedby the Administration process.

Load Internet configurations from Server\InternetSites documents

Specifies whether the server obtains Internetprotocol configuration information from Internet Site documents orfrom the Server document. Choose one:

  • Enabled - The server obtains all Internet protocol configurationinformation from Internet Site documents. Comparable configurationsettings in the Server document are not used.
  • Disabled - The server obtains all Internet protocol configurationinformation from settings on the Ports - Internet Ports tabs of theServer document.

Each time you start or restart the server, a console messageindicates the source of the server's Internet protocol configurationinformation.

Maximum formula execution time

The maximum time, in seconds, that a formulacan run. If a formula fails to complete within the specified time,Domino® interrupts it.

Server build number

Domino® versionor build number. This is a read-only field and is completed by theAdministration process.

Routing tasks

The routing tasks supported by this server.Choose one or more:

  • Mail routing - On servers runningDomino® Release5 and greater, select this option to enable the server to route mailover bothNotes® protocolsand SMTP. On servers running earlier releases, this option enablesrouting overNotes® protocolsonly.
  • X400 Mail Routing - Select this option for servers running theX400 MTA.
  • SMTP Mail Routing -Select this option for servers running theSMTP MTA.
  • ccMail Routing - Select this option for servers running the ccMailMTA.

SMTP listener task

Specifies whether the server runs the SMTP listenertask. Servers running the SMTP listener can accept incoming connectionsfrom other SMTP hosts. Choose one:

  • Enabled - The SMTP listener task starts automatically when theserver starts.
  • Disabled - The SMTP listener task does not start automaticallywhen the server starts.

Server's phone number(s)

For servers that are available over dialup connections,specifies the phone numbers that a modem can call to connect to theserver. The numbers specified are displayed in the Server - Serversview of theDomino® Directory.

CPU count

The number of processors configured on the computerthat hosts theDomino® server.This is a read-only field and is completed by the Administration process.

Operating system

The server's operating system. This is a readonly field and is completed by the Administration process.

Is this aSametime® server?

Specifies whether theDomino® server also acts as aHCLSametime® server.For more information, see theSametime® productdocumentation, in the related links.

DirectoryInformation

Directory assistance database name

Name of a directory assistance database theserver uses.

Name of condensed directory catalog on thisserver

Name of a condensed directory catalog the serveruses.

Trust the server based condensed directory catalogfor authentication with internet protocols

Indicates whether all user names aggregatedin a condensed directory catalog on this server are trusted for clientauthentication.

Directory Type

Read only field. Filled in by the Administrationprocess. Indicates whether theDomino® Directoryon the server is a primaryDomino® Directoryor a Configuration Directory.

Allow this directory to be used as a remoteprimary directory for other servers

Indicates whether servers with ConfigurationDirectories can use the primaryDomino® Directoryon the server for remote lookups.

AutomaticServer Recovery

Field

Description

Run this Script after server fault/crash

Enter the entire script name, including anyextensions.

For example, to automatically invoke a script whichshuts down any backup programs, enter:

c:\myprograms\quitbkup.bat

Donot try to enable NSD from this field. You can enable NSD in the fieldRunNSD to collect diagnostic information.

Note: Directoryseparators (slashes) in the file name portion are converted for theoperating system, but slashes in optional arguments are not converted.

Run NSD to Collect Diagnostic Information

Select this check box to enable the NSD automaticdiagnostic data collection. Releases ofDomino® prior toDomino® 6.0.3 ignore this check box.

Automatically restart server fault/crash

Select this check box to enable Automatic ServerRecovery (sometimes called Fault Recovery).

When this fieldis enabled, the fieldsMaximum Fault Limits andMailFault Notification to appear.

Cleanup Script/NSD Maximum Execution Time

Specifies the time, in seconds that the cleanupscript or NSD is allowed to run. If the script or NSD does not completewithin the specified interval, it is stopped. The default executiontime is 300 seconds (5 minutes). Maximum is 1800 seconds.

Maximum Fault Limits

The number of times the server is allowed torestart during a specified time period, in minutes -- for example,3 faults within 5 minutes. If the number of faults exceeds the numberof allowed restarts for the interval, the server exits without restarting.

Mail Fault Notification to

The name of a user or group thatDomino® sends mail to after fault recoveryrestarts the server.

ServerLocation Information section

PhoneDialing

Note: Support for dialup modem (X.PC) connectionsis available only in releases ofDomino® earlierthan release 8.5. You may continue to useDomino® Administrator 8.5 to configure andmaintain modem support, but only on servers running releases olderthan 8.5. You may continue to use network dialup connection throughMicrosoft Dialup Networking(DUN) or Remote Access Service (RAS) in all releases.

Description

Prefix

The prefix required to dial an external number.For example, enter 9 if you normally have to dial 9 to obtain an outsideline.

International prefix

The prefix required when dialing to anothercountry.

Country code at this location

The country code for the location from whichyou are dialing. When used with other information for an organization,the country code helps identify the correct location.

Long distance prefix

The prefix for dialing long distance from thislocation.

Area code at this location

The assigned area code that identifies the areafrom which you are calling.

Calling card access number

Calling card access phone number you want touse at this location.

Calling card number

Calling card number you want to use at thislocation.

Dialing rules

Network Dialup idle timeout

Number of minutes to wait before giving up ona failed connection

AdditionalInfo

Specifies whether the server obtains time zone anddaylight savings time rules from the server's operating system.

Field

Description

Mail server

Specifies the full name of the mail server tobe used at this location.

Pass-through server

Specifies the name of a default pass-throughserver.

InterNotes server

The hierarchical name of the server runningthe Web task. This is the default server to use if the InterNotesserver field in the user's Location document is blank. The serveryou specify in this field on the Location document takes precedenceover the server specified in the InterNotes server field on this document.
