Understanding the Server document

The Server document is set up when you register a server.It contains many of the settings that define how your server operates.

You also use the Server document to enable mail routing,transaction logging, and fault recovery, as well as other servicesand features. The administrator who creates the Server document islisted as the administrator responsible for the server, unless youspecify otherwise during server registration. The server administratoris responsible for maintaining the server and is the only one whocan modify the server settings. You can specify more than one administratorfor a server.

Understanding the All Server Documents view

TheAll Server Documents view displays the Server documents currentlyavailable in the selectedDomino® Directoryin alphabetical order by name. If theDomino® Directoryincludes Server documents for otherDomino® domains,the domains are listed alphabetically.

To view the Server documentof the currently selected server only, click the view Current Serverdocument.

The Server document contains many of the settingsthat identify the server and its users, and define how it operates.For example, the Server document specifies the server'sNotes® name, IP address, fully-qualified Internethost name,Domino® domain,theNotes® Named networks itbelongs to, the Internet ports and services available, its securitysettings, and so forth.

You also use the Server document toenable transaction logging, and fault recovery, as well as other servicesand features. From the All Server Documents view, you can:

  • Add a Server document
  • Edit a Server document
  • Delete a server
  • Add a server to a cluster
  • Configure a server for the web

In addition to the name of each server, the All Server documentsview displays the name of the server's administrator.
