J. K. Rowling: A Year in the Life is a documentary that was filmed byJames Runcie. The film followsJ. K. Rowling over the course of a long year as she completes her work on the lastHarry Potter novel,Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
This documentary also includes many extensive interviews with J. K. Rowling, as well as several clips of her promotingDeathly Hallows and at the launch.
This documentary was screened in the United Kingdom on Sunday30 December2007, on channelITV and onSeven Network inAustralia on13 July,2008. It was also aired on the ABC Television Network in America on Thursday,16 July,2009 from 8-9pm (ET), the weekend of the release of the filmHarry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.[1]
J. K. Rowling: A Year in the Life was later included on the "Special Features" DVD ofHarry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
New canon introduced[]
- In the documentary, J. K. Rowling provides a quick sketch of theWeasley family tree, including all the marriages and grandchildren not mentioned in the Epilogue ofDeathly Hallows. She also includesLuna Lovegood's marriage toRolf Scamander, and bothJames andLily get middle names - Sirius and Luna respectively. It also introducesPercy Weasley's marriage toAudrey. She later placed this tree in the Room of Requirement section of her official website, where it was updated to includeDraco Malfoy's marriage toAstoria Greengrass, and gives their son,Scorpius, a middle name - Hyperion.
