TheImperturbable Charm (incantation unknown) was acharm that created aninvisiblemagical barrier around an object, such as a door.[1][2] Objects would bounce off of the barrier, and it also muffled sounds, like theMuffliato Charm. An object enchanted in this manner was said to have been "Imperturbed".[1]

1980s[]

During the1986–1987 school year,Jacob's sibling learned this charm fromProfessorFilius Flitwick so that they could protect thekelp forest from thesea serpent at the Magical Creatures Reserve, who was unintentionally invading the territory of theGiant Squid at the Magical Creatures Reserve. Despite Flitwick warning that it would be highly difficult to do, Jacob's sibling managed to do it anyway.[4]

When the Hogwarts grounds were infested with a swarm ofBanshees, the is charm was used to bolster thecastle defences.[5]

During the1989–1990 school year atHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,Bill Weasley taught this charm tosixth-year students inDefence Against the Dark Arts class as part of his extra-curricular evening lessons in the subject.[3]

In1995,Molly Weasley used this charm on the kitchen door at12 Grimmauld Place to prevent the children from eavesdropping onOrder of the Phoenix meetings usingExtendable Ears.Ginny Weasley was taught byNymphadora Tonks how to test if something had been Imperturbed by flickingDungbombs at the suspected target and seeing if they bounced off.[1]
