Forbidden Forest wolf pack

Thispack ofwolves lived in theForbidden Forest on the grounds ofHogwarts Castle inScotland.^[3][1]

History[]

The pack was the result of the rare union between twowerewolves mating at the fullmoon, an occurrence known to have happened only twice in wizarding history. The pack was allowed to live in the Forbidden Forest by then-HeadmasterAlbus Dumbledore when they were a young litter, and it, in time, grew into a pack of beautiful and highly intelligent wolves. The wolves were no more dangerous than normal wolves, bearing none of the savageness and taste forhumanflesh that werewolves had. Despite this, rumours of savage werewolves living in the forest spread amongst the student body of Hogwarts, rumours that the staff let spread in hopes to help keep students out of the forest.^[1]

According toTom Riddle, in his youth,Rubeus Hagrid would attempt to raise "werewolf cubs" under his bed, presumably part of this pack.^[4] Rumours about Hagrid raising werewolf cubs persisted into his adult life, withArgus Filch, theHogwarts caretaker, believing Hagrid raised "a whole pack of 'em" in his hut during the1980s.^[2]

Borf, a cub in the1980s, was one of such wolves.^[2]

Draco Malfoy andArgus Filch both knew that there were werewolves in the forest, however, as one of the staff, Filch knew they were not in fact vicious, and only acknowledged their ferocity to make students frightened of entering the forest.^[3]Ronald Weasley also believed that there were werewolves.^[5]
