This is the second rewrite of the popular toolsetoriginally written byUser:X! for the English Wikipedia.

XTools was first refactored in 2014 byHedonil.

In 2017, it was rewritten again byMatthewrb,MusikAnimal,Samwilson,andothers. Up until version 3.12.0, XTools couldtheoretically be used on any MediaWiki installation. However official support was dropped due to lack of usage bythird parties and associated maintenance burden.
