Thank you for considering submitting your package to the rOpenSci suite.All the packages contributed by community members go through a processofopen peerreview toensure a consistent level of quality for our users. This process alsoallows us to ensure that your package meets our guidelines and providesopportunity for discussion where exceptions are requested.

This README is a short intro to Software Peer Review for you as apotential author or reviewer. For more information, consult ourgitbook“rOpenSci Packages: Development, Maintenance, and PeerReview”.

• First, and foremost, we hope you submit your package for reviewbecause you value the feedback. We aim to provide useful feedbackto package authors and for our review process to be open,non-adversarial, and focused on improving software quality.
• Once aboard, your package will continue to receivesupport fromrOpenSci members. You’ll retain ownership and control of yourpackage, but we can help with ongoing maintenance issues such as thoseassociated with updates to R and dependencies and CRAN policies.
• rOpenSci willpromote your package through ourwebpage,blog, andsocialmedia. Packages in our suite also get adocumentation website that is automatically built and deployed aftereach push.
• rOpenScipackages can be cross-listed with other repositories suchas CRAN and BioConductor.
• rOpenSci packages that contain a short accompanying paper can, afterreview, be automatically submitted to theJournal of Open-SourceSoftware for fast-tracked publication.

• As in any peer-review process, we hope you choose to reviewto giveback to the rOpenSci and scientific communities. Our mission toexpand access to scientific data and promote a culture of reproducibleresearch is only possible through the volunteer efforts of communitymembers like you.
• Review is a two-way conversation. By reviewing packages, you’ll havethe chance tocontinue to learn development practices from authorsand other reviewers.
• The open nature of our review process allows you tonetwork and meetcolleagues and collaborators through the review process. Ourcommunity is friendly and filled with supportive members expert in Rdevelopment and many other areas of science and scientific computing.

To volunteer to be one of our reviewers, please fill out thisshortform providing your contactinformation and areas or expertise. We are always looking for morereviewers with both general package-writing experience and domainexpertise in the fields packages are used for.

Our review process is always in development, and we encourage feedbackand discussion on how to improve the process on ourforum and in theropensci/software-review-meta issuetracker.

rOpenSci’s Software Peer Review process is run by our team of dedicatededitors and reviewers. Information on the current team, and the currentstatus of software peer review, can be seen on ourinteractivedashboard.

We rotate our Editor-in-Chief, generally every three months. Our currentEditor-in-Chief isJeff Hollister.
