I'd like to consider removingimportlib_resources.__version__. Reasons:

• It causes problems for environments where metadata is missing,
• It is hardly better thanimportlib.metadata.version('importlib_resources'), and
• It doesn't have a counterpart in its upstream port (importlib.resources).
