📌 Project Overview

This Power BI and Power Query project provides an in-depth analysis ofMSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) Growth, Contribution, and Financial Challenges in India. The study explores MSME formalization, female entrepreneurship, manufacturing sector insights, employment trends, GDP contribution, and financial gaps.

Power Query played acrucial role in this project, enabling efficientdata extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) before visualization in Power BI. Given thelarge and diverse data sources, Power Query was instrumental incleaning, reshaping, and preparing the dataset.

1️⃣Extracting Data from Multiple Sources

  • Web Data Extraction: Direct connection to government websites such asUdyam Registration Portal andMSME Dashboard.
  • PDF Files: Processed reports, research papers, and government documents.
  • CSV Files: Integrated structured datasets from official sources.
  • Excel Files: Merged and cleaned Excel-based data for further analysis.

2️⃣Data Transformation Techniques

  • Unpivot Columns: Converted wide-format data into along format for better analysis.
  • Custom Columns: Created calculated fields forfinancial gap analysis, gender-based MSME insights, and growth trends.
  • Merge Queries: Combined multiple datasets, such asfinancial constraints vs. MSME type, to derive deeper insights.
  • Append Queries: Stacked data fromdifferent years & sources into a unified dataset.
  • Handling Missing Data: Appliedfill down, replace values, and remove errors techniques to clean datasets.

3️⃣Loading into Power BI Desktop

  • The transformed data was seamlesslyloaded into Power BI Desktop for creatinginteractive dashboards.
  • Data model optimization was performed usingrelationships between tables, ensuring ahigh-performance report.

Power Query's powerful ETL capabilities allowed fordynamic data integration, making this projectscalable, automated, and insightful for MSME analysis. 🚀
