PEAR is the PHP Extension and Application Repository, found athttp://pear.php.net.
ThePEAR Installer is this software, which contains executablefiles and PHP code that is used todownload and install PEAR codefrom pear.php.net.
PEAR contains usefulsoftware libraries and applications such asMDB2 (database abstraction), HTML_QuickForm (HTML forms management),PhpDocumentor (auto-documentation generator), DB_DataObject(Data Access Abstraction), and many hundreds more.Browse all available packages athttp://pear.php.net, the list isconstantly growing and updating to reflect improvements in the PHP language.
Warning
Do not run PEAR without installing it - if you downloaded thistarball manually, you MUST install it. Read the instructions in INSTALLprior to use.

Run the tests without installation as follows:
$ ./scripts/pear.sh run-tests -r tests
You should have theText_Diff
package installed to get nicer error output.
To run the tests with another PHP version, modifyphp_bin
and set thePHP_PEAR_PHP_BIN
environment variable:
$ pear config-set php_bin /usr/local/bin/php7$ PHP_PEAR_PHP_BIN=/usr/local/bin/php7 ./scripts/pear.sh run-tests -r tests

Create a PEAR package, as well as phars for pear-less installation,simply runbuild-release.sh

go-pear.phar
contains the PEAR installer installer that asks where to install it.It is available fromhttp://pear.php.net/go-pear.phar.
install-pear-nozlib.phar
installs PEAR automatically without asking anything.It is shipped with PHP itself.
