In Debian we just received this bug report:http://bugs.debian.org/637535 .

Indeed, doc/_templates/layout.html contains the js code to update mpl statistics on piwik .

While it's perfectly understandable that for matplotlib.sourceforge.net you want statistics, distributing this code (and being enabled by default) makes all the users of local documentation to update your stats. Except for the wrong information you're getting (local users are not surfing the website), users can also feel like they are "spied" .

Do you think you can remove those code (and only add when you build the SF website) or find a way to disable it by default ?
