Problem

ThelegendHandles attribute of legend isn't documented, nor does it have aget_legendHandles() method.

I would have found either option useful when trying to get handler positions, per the convo ongitter. Or if instead there was a pointer toax.get_legend_handles() in thelegend docs. And yes, I now know it's in the legend guide, but I didn't look there when trying to find this info (which yes my mistake) and it is an attribute of legend.
