Scaling issues with multiple monitors in Wayland#950

Discussion options

I am using ...

  • ksnip 1.10.1
  • Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS x86_64
  • Gnome 42.5 (Wayland)
  • laptop with FHD+ set to 100% scaling
  • external 4K monitor set to 100% scaling

I noted that by default the snap installation of ksnip displayed UI menus, widgets, etc on my laptop way too small. Dragging the UI across to my 4k monitor, everything automatically gets bigger (about twice the size).

I also noted that any screen capture (seehow to launch ksnip with an image from the clipboard) would appear too big, approximately twice the size of what the screen was actually displaying.

Solution

The resolution for these scaling issues is to add the following environment variables into ~/.profile or ~/.bash_profile

export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0export QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=""

Now when I drag the ksnip UI across monitors, it does not resize, and screen shots appear the same size as what was captured
