Hi and thank you for an excellent product.

Something we encounter regularly is that docker builds fail because a labextension has not been updated to support the latest Jupyterlab version.

It usually takes weeks or more for the extension developer to catch up, and while I understand the considerations, most of the time the changes in jupyterlab are meaningless for the package.

It'd be nice to have a--force flag to force the extension to install, taking the risk of version incompatibilities, but enabling us to keep on working with the extensions.
