This library simplifies using Google's various server-to-server authenticationmechanisms to access Google APIs.

You can install usingpip:

$ pip install google-auth

For more information on setting up your Python development environment, please refer toPython Development Environment Setup Guide for Google Cloud Platform.

google-auth has few extras that you can install. For example:

$ pip install google-auth[pyopenssl]

Note that the extras pyopenssl and enterprise_cert should not be used together because they use conflicting versions ofcryptography.

Python >= 3.8

NOTE:Python 3.8 and Python 3.9 were marked asunsupported by the python community inOctober 2024 and October 2025, respectively.We recommend that all developers upgrade to Python 3.10 and newer as soon asthey can. Support for end-of-life Python runtimes will be removed from thislibrary in future updates.Previous releases that support end-of-life Python versions will continue to be availablefor download, but future releases will only target supported versions.

• Python == 2.7: The last version of this library with support for Python 2.7was google.auth == 1.34.0.
• Python 3.5: The last version of this library with support for Python 3.5was google.auth == 1.23.0.
• Python 3.6: The last version of this library with support for Python 3.6was google.auth == 2.22.0.
• Python 3.7: The last version of this library with support for Python 3.7was google.auth == 2.45.0.
