This performs an exact type comparison with "is" instead of "==".Most (maybe all?) of the rest of the places where "==" was usedhave been changed previously, but this on fell through the cracks.Like the None object, type objects use reference-based equalitycomparison, and the idiomatic ways to check against them are "is"for exactly comparisons and isinstance/issubclass otherwise.
- Slightly improve grammar ("it's" -> "its").- Add a missing space after a "." (between sentences).- Use more consistent hard wrap in a place where 88 was intended.- Remove some noqa directives that are not needed at all anymore. But there may still be some others I did not find.- Fix the code and remove the noqa direcive in places where the change is very simple and does not affect the interface (e.g., what could be taken to be public or not, what symbols are available and what they refer to, etc.), the change makes the code more idiomatic or clearer, and it fixes the flake8 complaint completely.- Turn file-level noqa directives into statement-level ones. A noqa directive at file level, even if it lists one or more specific error/warning numbers, actually suppresses flake8 for the entire file. So the main benefit here is to enable other warnings. But this also makes it clear what is producing the ones we suppress, which makes it easier to know what is intentional and how it may be reasonable to change it in the future.- Move noqa directives at the end of multi-line imports to the top line, where flake8 honors them, and eliminate redundant directives that were added to work around their ineffectiveness. (This is not really separate from the above point, since this is often what allowed file-level directives to be removed.)- Specify the errors/warnings each "noqa" should suppress. That is, this turns every bare "noqa", aside from those eliminated as described above, into a "noqa" for one or more specific errors/warnings. This makes the intent clearer and avoids oversuppression.- Add missing ":" between "noqa" and error/warning numbers. When these were absent, the intention was to suppress only the specifically listed errors/warnings, but the effect was that the listed numbers were ignored and *everything* was suppressed. In a couple of cases it was necessary to change the listed numbers to correct the list to what actually needed to be suppressed.- Write every "noqa" in lower-case (not "NOQA"). There did not appear to be a systematic reason for the different casing, and having them all cased the same makes it easier to avoid mistakes when grepping for them.- Where an import is unused and does not appear intended to be accesed from other modules, and is present only to support code in the same module that is commented out, but whose removal should be considered separately, comment out the statement or part of the statement that imports it as well, rather than writing a "noqa" for the unused import. This applies to only one file, git/objects/util.py.

Well, a couple of the broken line-level suppressions had also beenadded by me. But thanks! More broadly, this is actually a case where More challenges than I expected have arisen in trying to migrate But when experimenting with it, I did find that it warned about not recognizing some of the file-level suppressions that |

This removes the "fmt: off" / "fmt: on" directives around the`@pytest.mark.parametrize` decoration on test_blob_filter, andreformats it with black, for consistency with other suchdecorations.The style used there, *if* it could be specified as a rule and thusused without "fmt:" directives, may be nicer than how black formatsmulti-line mark decorations. However, since that decoration waswritten, there have been a number of other such decorations, whichhave been in black style.This also removes the only (or only remaining?) "fmt:" directive inthe codebase. As such, it should possibly have been done ingitpython-developers#1760.

Ifeither of those features are used on Windows, a malicious `git.exe` or`bash.exe` may be run from an untrusted repository.### DetailsAlthough GitPython often avoids executing programs found in an untrustedsearch path since 3.1.33, two situations remain where this still occurs.Either can allow arbitrary code execution under some circumstances.#### When a shell is usedGitPython can be told to run `git` commands through a shell rather thanas direct subprocesses, by passing `shell=True` to any method thataccepts it, or by both setting `Git.USE_SHELL = True` and not passing`shell=False`. Then the Windows `cmd.exe` shell process performs thepath search, and GitPython does not prevent that shell from finding andrunning `git` in the current directory.When GitPython runs `git` directly rather than through a shell, theGitPython process performs the path search, and currently omits thecurrent directory by setting `NoDefaultCurrentDirectoryInExePath` in itsown environment during the `Popen` call. Although the `cmd.exe` shellwill honor this environment variable when present, GitPython does notcurrently pass it into the shell subprocess's environment.Furthermore, because GitPython sets the subprocess CWD to the root of arepository's working tree, using a shell will run a malicious `git.exe`in an untrusted repository even if GitPython itself is run from atrusted location.This also applies if `Git.execute` is called directly with `shell=True`(or after `Git.USE_SHELL = True`) to run any command.#### When hook scripts are runOn Windows, GitPython uses `bash.exe` to run hooks that appear to bescripts. However, unlike when running `git`, no steps are taken to avoidfinding and running `bash.exe` in the current directory.This allows the author of an untrusted fork or branch to cause amalicious `bash.exe` to be run in some otherwise safe workflows. Anexample of such a scenario is if the user installs a trusted hook whileon a trusted branch, then switches to an untrusted feature branch(possibly from a fork) to review proposed changes. If the untrustedfeature branch contains a malicious `bash.exe` and the user's currentworking directory is the working tree, and the user performs an actionthat runs the hook, then although the hook itself is uncorrupted, itruns with the malicious `bash.exe`.Note that, while `bash.exe` is a shell, this is a separate scenario fromwhen `git` is run using the unrelated Windows `cmd.exe` shell.### PoCOn Windows, create a `git.exe` file in a repository. (Undesired console windows had, in thepast, been created in some kinds of applications, when it was not used.)Such an application may be vulnerable to arbitrary code execution from amalicious repository, even with no other exacerbating conditions. Thisis to say that, if a shell is used to run `git`, the full effect ofCVE-2023-40590 is still present. This includes a few small style improvements I had missed in previous PRs, but consist mostly of improvements to how and where
noqadirectives are used, and code changes (intended to be non-breaking and uncontroversial) to go along with that.The directives are made more precise. They always give specific errors/warnings to suppress, both where that had been intended but idiosyncrasies of the syntax caused them to be broader, and where nothing had been given before. All
noqadirectives are now statement-level rather than file-level. Some of those that were no longer needed are removed with no other associated change. Some others are removed together with minimal changes to the code they complained about or to othernoqadirectives that had been ineffective (such as due to their placement).The commit messages have some more information about the details of the changes.
