Relands#162315

Removed animated sheet golden tests as they're not consistent for long animation tests. Rewritten the tests to be more precise using mock canvas checks.

Fixes#162098

Description

This PR fixesTab linear and elastic animation blinks/flickers when skipping multiple tabs. Previous attempt to fix elastic animation didn't cover linear animation tests and didn't have enough number of tab items which this PR fixes.

  • Fixed Linear and elastic animation blink issue.
  • Added tests for linear and elastic animation with various tab sizes (LTR and RTL)
  • Added tests for linear and elastic animation when skipping tabs (LTR and RTL)

Yesterday, my tab bar PR broke the tree#162315. After looking into it, it looks like golden images generated in a longer animation produces very low quality images as a result some images produce unexpected diff.

This PR remove this animated sheet golden tests in favor of mock canvas tests. As a result, I've also rename some tests to be precise.

LGTM 👍

Is the problem that the low-res images that are produced for the goldens during the animation are nondeterministic/flakey? Kind of a bummer since those tests were so concise. Thank you for doing the work to thoroughly write all of this out for mock canvas though.

Just double checking that this first call topump() is necessary here. Here and elsewhere.

Initially pump trigger UI update and second pump advances the animation. If we only pump duration, there is no pixel movement.

@dkwingsmt As the author of AnimationSheetBuilder have you ever seen this kind of flakiness before?

Or maybe it's due to the size of the sheet producing a very large golden image that has to be scaled down, something like that? Maybe@Piinks would know if that's how large goldens work?

If we can't diagnose this here, maybe we should open an issue to track this.

Compare to previous PR. the reverted PR had more cases which increased the animation duration captured in the generate image. I noticed the images got a lot burrier with longer test. Blurry images are harder to compare and may produce diffs.

If I scale back the tests duration, we don't the full benefit of such tests and have to deal with golden updates so I decided to use mock canvas instead.

3.27.candidate branch had conflict so the automatic CP didn't work but then I noticed 3.29.candidate doesn't have conflict locally and tried CP label and it worked!#163830
