Without the installpath registry keys, TSH build of Generals does the same as the retail builds: it crashes with Serious Error. However, a good guess of the install path is the current working directory and with ZH, the ccg BIGs could be assumed to be in Generals/ subdirectory like they are in the Steam distribution. These would be sane defaults and would allow for portable installations of Generals, without mandatory registry changes.
