OpenIPC is an open source operating system from theopen communitytargeting for IP cameras with ARM and MIPS processors from several manufacturers inorder to replace that closed, opaque, insecure, often abandoned and unsupportedfirmware pre-installed by a vendor.

OpenIPCfirmware comes as binary pre-compiled files for easyinstallation by end-user. Also, we provide full access to the source files forfurther development and improvement by any capable programmer willing tocontribute to the project. OpenIPC source code is released under one of the mostsimple open source license agreements,MIT License, giving users expresspermission to reuse code for any purpose, even as part of a proprietary software.We only ask you politely to contribute your improvements back to us and also besure to contact us if you use our project forcommercial purposes. We wouldbe grateful for any feedback and suggestions. The use of the OpenIPC project and itscomponents for military purposes is not permitted.

Historically, OpenIPCfirmware only supported SoC manufactured byHiSilicon, but as the development continues, the list of supported processorsexpands. Today, it also includes chips fromAmbarella,Anyka,Fullhan,Goke,GrainMedia,Ingenic,MStar,Novatek,SigmaStar,XiongMai, and isexpected to grow further.
