Provide a description of what your changes do.

Fixes an issue that prevents new branches from being generated if they don't exist on the remote.

Testing Instructions

Give us step by step instructions on how to test your changes.

Switch your workflow file to use the beta version:JamesIves/github-pages-deploy-action@releases/v3
Change the branch to one that doesn't exist.
It should no longer error. Both initial and subsequent deploys should work.

Additional Notes

Anything else that will help us test the pull request.

I'd love to figure out how to automatically test this functionality.

@JamesIves Thank you for the quick fix! This appears to have fixed it for me, if I use the v3-test version (I assume that's what you meant above?). See a successful first deploymenthere. Much appreciated.
