by Plato, arranged in two parts by Dr David Rees and John Theocharis from the translation by Hugh Tredennick
In 399 BC, at the age of 70, Socrates was brought to trial on charges of impiety and corrupting the minds of the young. He was found guilty and condemned to death. In four of his works - Euthyphro, The Apology, Crito and Phaedo - Plato presents Socrates before, during and after the trial, and in prison up to his drinking the hemlock.
