Educator and minor writer. Born in Ṣadad, his father died when he was young and he was sent to the Taw Mim Semkath Orphanage inBeirut. He studied Syriac underIsḥāq Armalah andʿAbd al-Masīḥ Qarabashī. He taught in the Syr. Orth. schools of ʿAmūdā, Qamishli, andAleppo. He composed a number of nationalistic poems, in particularMotho rḥimto nišo dil(y) ‘O Beloved Nation, you are my symbol’, which is quite popular today. Most of his writings, however, remain unpublished. His poemmotho rḥimto was published with musical notation byGabriel Asʿad (Aleppo, 1935).
