House Staunton[2][a] ofRook's Rest is a noble house from theCrownlands. Their heraldry displays a black pair of wings with a gold crown on a white field, beneath a black and white checkered chief.[1]

LordSimon Staunton declares forRhaenyra at the start of theDance of the Dragons and is named to theBlack Council.[2]

In the books[]
In theA Song of Ice and Fire novels, House Staunton'swords and sigil are unknown, though according to semi-canon sources the latter is two black wings upon a white fess on checkered black and grey.
DuringJaehaerys Targaryen's uprising, Lord Staunton remained loyal toKing Maegor but eventually surrendered theRed Keep toJaehaerys. He, along with Lord Darklyn and Jordan Towers, was imprisoned in theblack cells and later pardoned by Jaehaerys. Lord Staunton spoke with the king when the latter resided atDragonstone.
Lord Staunton's daughter Cassella was murdered by Androw Farman at Dragonstone in 54 AC. Five years later, Lord Staunton died of the Shivers along with his wife and children.
Lord Symond Staunton wasAerys II Targaryen'smaster of laws. He attempted to outlawtourneys.
