SOFT LAUNCH ON ITCH

Due to the unfortunate end of DashingDon, I'm releasing the prologue to itch! However, because of school, the rest of Chapters 1-3 are still slow-going, and I'm not expecting to make any real headway until March 2025. Still, I appreciate those who have been waiting for me patiently, and I wanted to release this to show that I haven't abandoned this project!

As this was a somewhat hasty decision, please let me know if there are any issues--bugs, saves, formatting, etc. Any changes made will be present during the next update.

About the Story

You are a spirit born of the Red Mountain–though you’ve run away from it long ago. You’d be content to stay away, too, if not for the mountain god who suddenly comes looking for you. But what purpose do they have? And what exactly isyour end goal?

Based on East Asian myths and folklore, you play as a powerful, nameless spirit in a dangerously shifting world. As a being caught between life and death, you are connected to a stream of limitless power, and the more you are known, the more powerful you become.

However, your journey will not be so smooth. You have been cursed by powerful, malignant beings, and it’s only a matter of time before you fall from sanity yourself.

Game Features

  • Based on East Asian myths and folklore, explore a world full of divine beasts, cultivating humans, and whimsical gods.
  • What kind of spirit are you? Animal or plant? Choose between ten different options!
  • Will you return to your mountain homeland, or remain in the spirit world? Explore two entirely separate routes (Multiple playthroughs recommended...)
  • Build friendships (and perhaps...more?) with a wide cast of characters!
  • Become a god of your own making, or remain a nameless spirit.

I recently found your tumblr and am so so happy to see the demo uploaded here! I went in a deep divebecause I love spoilers and can’t wait to read chapters 1-3 when they’re up 😭 I feel left out and want to catch up with all the fans that have been following along for so long too! ❤️

Your writing style is quite excellent, and I absolutely favor it!

I think and act in the form you gave me, a childish rabbit and a magnolia blossom.

I was terrified of the foxes, and enjoyed my time with big sister. (While she was... there, of course. The fury still burns in my heart.)

I had this chance to examine your world with the form you blessed me with, and I took the chance.

Well, I've grew more interested in you, as the writer of this... astonishing world. 

Oh, please, let me rephrase it, it does sound quite weird.

The brilliance, I wonder. It is quite hard to explain.

Although your writing is dead serious, your comments seemed rather... friendly, if that is how you would put it.

The only time I have written a comment this long, is for another visual novel.

Simple, but yet complex. Your writing has potential and I hope I will be there for it.

OMG CONGRATS AND WELCOME BACK!!!!!

This was one of the very first IFs I read when I first fell in love with the medium (it was pre-pandemic too, oh god-), so seeing it here on itch really does feel like crossing paths with a beloved old friend!

I look forward to delving back into the world of GotRM and seeing what happens next!

(T_T) yeah, there was a post recently on the CS forums, but Don can no longer support the site. I definitely understand why, but it's so sad to know that so many archived wips are going to disappear...
