Jeunesse

Joseph Dorgan est le neveu du catcheurTony Parisi (en) qui a étéchampion du monde par équipes de laWorld Wide Wrestling Federation avecLouis Cerdan[2]. Il se passionne pour le catch en allant voir son oncle[3].

Débuts (1993-1996)

Dès ses 18 ans, Joseph Dorgan part àToronto pour s'entraîner à l'école de catch de Ron Hutchison[3]. Il a notamment comme partenaire d'entraînementAdam Copeland etJoe Hitchen[3]. Il commence sa carrière au Canada à laBorder City Wrestling (BCW), une petite fédération de l'Ontario[3]. Durant cette période, il fait quelques apparitions télévisés à laWorld Wrestling Federation et à laWorld Championship Wrestling grâce àScott D'Amore, le promoteur de la BCW, qui le recommande à ces deux fédérations[2].
