Badge & ID
The SAT Badge and ID Office is responsible for the issuance of airport Security Identification Media (badges) to employees who work and require access to the San Antonio International Airport.
Individuals who work and require unescorted access to the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) and Sterile Areas must possess an airport-issued SAT Security Identification Media (badge).
Badge issuance is limited to those individuals who have cleared the FBI-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) as well as the TSA-based Security Threat Assessment (STA) and have a frequent and recurring need for access.
It should be noted, the badge is and always remains property of SAT and will be surrendered upon the demand of the employer, SAT Security, and/or Operations, within 24 hours of termination of employment.

When you visit the Badge & ID Office, please bring the appropriate identification as listed in the I-9 document requirements. All documents must be valid and legible.
When presenting a driver’s license and social security card, the names on both documents must match. If the applicant was born outside of the U.S., the Badge & ID Office will need proof of citizenship.

Children under 12 are not permitted in the lobby due to safety concerns and limited space.
Authorized Signatory
Each company must have two (2) Authorized Signatories as the primary point of contact between SAT and the company if they are badged as a standalone company. The process to become an Authorized Signatory requires the person to have a valid airport badge, complete additional Computer-Based Training for Authorized Signatories, and attend the mandatory annual training.

- Ensure employees are aware of their badge appointment date/time
- Make sure all application requests are submitted and approved before sending your employee in
- A new badge is required when an applicant lets their badge expire
- Do not submit a “User Termination for One Company” request if your employee loses their badge or if it’s stolen
Badge and ID Charges
The Badge & ID office only accepts credit/debit cards for payment.
Badge & ID Appointments
All appointments for badging purposes will need to be scheduled by the Authorized Signatory.
- Late Appointment Policy: We ask that you arrive in the office at or no more than 30 minutes before your appointment time.
- If you are over15 minutes late for your fingerprint or renewal appointment, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment and assessed a$25 non-waivable Missed Appointment Fee.
- No Show Appointments: Failure to cancel your appointment within 24 hours will result in a $25 non-waivable missed appointment fee.
- Occupying an appointment slot without having properI-9 documentation, a valid application, or payment will result in a $25 non-waivable missed appointment fee.
- Fees must be paid before you can continue the process for an airport badge.
- Fees for badging, along with unpaid dues, are required at the time of service.
How to Complete the Application
- Completing the “Badge Application” – The application can be completed through the self-service portal link received from your Authorized Signatory or it can be completed by the Authorized Signatory. The self-service portal will require you to log in using your personal Gmail account. Status updates on your application or appointment notifications will go to the email address listed on the application.
- On the next page, you will see “Your application has been successfully submitted to your tenant company manager for approval.”
Attention Applicant, Contact Your Supervisor
Prior to reporting for your appointment, you must confirm that an application has been approved by your company’s Authorized Signatory. If the authorization process has not been completed, the Badge/ID Office will not be able to process you.
What to Expect
New badge applicant: Consists of 2 visits. The first visit will be the capturing of fingerprints and a photo. The Badge & ID staff will verify your personal information and submit to the TSA and FBI. The second visit is to complete your security training.
Badge Renewal: The renewal visit will require you to complete the recurrent security training every 2 years. After successful completion, and renewed badge will be issued.
Computer-Based Training: Security training with a series of videos and quizzes. The duration of training is approximately 2 hours.
(REMINDER) All badge & ID processes require a valid application and valid identification from the List of Acceptable documents.

Disqualifying Events
Applicants convicted of any of the disqualifying offenses listed in the link below will be disqualified from obtaining an Identification Media (badge).This includes if an applicant accepted a plea of nolo contendere, or guilty followed by deferred adjudication on any of the 28 offenses. Please note: San Antonio International has the authority to go above and beyond the 28 disqualifiers.
Disqualifying Events
Applicants with outstanding warrants will not be cleared for their Identification Media (badge) until proof of resolution is provided.
Applicants may be required to obtain court documents and provide those to the Criminal History Records Check Specialist for any questionable offenses.
An applicant not completing the badge process within 30 days of notification to the Authorized Signatory of their background check clearance will be disqualified from obtaining Identification Media (badge).
Computer Based Training Requirements
- Applicants must check in at the front desk before reporting to the SIDA training room.
- Once directed to the training room, all applicants will receive their login information.
- Applicants must present their pink CHRC In Process badge to take the training.
- Each applicant is allottedthree (3) attempts to complete the final assessment before the computer locks them out.
- Applicants must complete the SIDA Training and assessment on their own without assistance.
The Applicant must come in and complete the computer training within 30 days of clearing the background check. Applicants must repeat the application and fingerprint process if they do not complete this step.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my background check take?
The length of time for a background check varies for each applicant. It can take from 2-7 days for U.S.-born applicants and up to 8 weeks for foreign-born applicants.
I have an employee who does not speak or understand English. Is he/she allowed to have a translator with them during training?
Interpreters are not allowed to assist during the computer training. All employees are required to complete the training on their own.
When can I renew my badge?
Badges can be renewed up to 60 days before the expiration date.
Do I need an appointment if I need to renew my badge?
Yes, all applicants are REQUIRED to schedule an appointment for processing.
Can I get a copy of my background check results?
Yes, if you would like a copy of your background records, please submit the forms below with your application.
Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
Can I get my airfield driver’s license?
Yes, the Badge & ID office offers the computer based non-movement license training for brand new applicants ONLY.
What do I do if I lose my badge or if it’s stolen?
Please call the AICC at 210.207.3433 and report it as lost or stolen. Notify your supervisor or authorized signatory so an application can be submitted and approved for replacement.
My badge was stolen. Do I still have to pay a stolen badge fee?
If you filed a police report listing the badge as stolen property, you will not be charged a fee as long as you provide the Badging Office with the police report. A badge replacement request, and valid identification, is still required.
My badge was lost, but I found it the next day. What do I need to do?
If you found your badge within 72 hours, you must go to the Badging Office with your badge to get it reactivated. If it is after the 72 hours, a brand-new application will be required.
I need to reset my password for the Authorized Signatory portal. Who do I need to contact?
Contact the Badge & ID office for a password reset.
