The Army of the Republic of Lithuania (Lietuvos Respublikoskariuomene) - The flag is drawn according to the picture fromback cover of magazine "Karys" (Warrior), number 4,1992. I think the relationship of the width of the flag to thelength should be 1:1.2, i.e. same dimentions as President's flag. The flag of the Army of the Republic of Lithuania was confirmedby the President of the Republic of Lithuania on November 21,2000 (full text of Decree in Lithuanian: <www3.lrs.lt>).Author - N. The flag of Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalionas can be seen at <www.kam.lt>. It would appear to be based on the lithuanian infrantry designbut with a black background and the battalion badge (a 3 headeddragon holding a sword) replacing the national emblem. I havemade the flag as per the image which is the reverse (hoist to theright). As the dragon is facing the opposite side then on theirbadge, it is probably safe to assume that the observe isidentical apart from the orientation of the dragon. Thanksto an online lithuanian dictionary, I have found out that themotto is "Overcome or ....." (couldn't find z^usim). Ifi had to guess, the last part could be something along the linesof "or nothing" or "or death" . The dateunder the dragon is the foundation of the unit under the name of"Klaipeda Motor-Airborne Battalion". It was thenchanged on 28 October 1993 to "7th Dragoon CoastBattalion" and finaly on 22 february 2000 to its currentname. The flag itself was awarded in july 1996.

That's no dragon, that's a wyvern (only two legs).
James Dignan, 26 September 2004
The motto is "Nugalësim arba űsim" (without thelithuanian characters "Nugalesim arba Zusim", whichliterally translates to "We will defeat [them] or we willdie."
