– Is it true that the Holy Father was a fan of soccer and was watching soccer games?
– He did not have much time for this, but I have to admit that he was interested and asked for the score.
– Was he asking for a specific soccer games or soccer teams?
– He rather did not express his sympathy, but of course, it was not a secret, that Cracovia was his beloved soccer team. However, in other games, he usually was not saying which his favorite team is. Simply, he was asking for the score. And, he was up to date.
– Supposedly, there was one soccer game when John Paul II and Cardinal Dziwisz were supporting and cheering different teams. The Pope was crossing his fingers for Wisła Kraków team, while Cardinal Dziwsz for Lazio Rome?
– In my time, I do not remember such soccer game situation. Cardinal Stanisław was very interested in soccer games and it was him who usually informed the Holy Father about the score and the situation in the tables.
