Weight (unit)
Weight (Japanese:重量weight), abbreviated asWt, is a statistic applied tounits which appears only inFire Emblem: Path of Radiance andRadiant Dawn. As its name suggests, it simulates the unit'sbody weight and dictates whether or not a unit is light enough or too heavy to berescued by another unit, and whether or not one unit is able toshove another. The function of the weight stat is similar to that of theconstitution stat, and indeed it performs the same functions filled by constitution in other games, even though constitution still exists inPath of Radiance andRadiant Dawn.
Technically speaking, weight is not entirely its own stat but is calculated based on the unit's constitution and class. Every class in the two games adds aclass bonus to the unit's constitution stat to produce their weight stat. The class bonus simulates any additions to the unit's actual body weight that come from whether or not they are armored or ride a mount. A side effect of this system is that increasing a unit's constitution using aStatue Frag will also indirectly increase their weight.

Trivia
- According to Taeko Kaneda, game designer ofPath of Radiance, the reason that weight was introduced was due to confusion over what theconstitution stat was supposed to represent. According to Kaneda, in the previous titles, constitution included armor and equipment, but this was ambiguous; thus,Path of Radiance separated a unit's constitution (before armor and equipment) from weight.[1]

- ↑"Kaneda: By the way, the concept of "constitution" which appeared on characters inThe Binding Blade andThe Blazing Blade includes armor and equipment. However, since this wasn't clearly stated anywhere, there were mistaken thoughts on some of the more delicate female characters in illustrations, such as "Is she actually a gigantic woman?" (laughs). Partly for this reason, "Radiance" separately displays constitution (before factoring armor) and weight. One's mental image is important." — xkan,Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Staff Interview (N.O.M 82 – May 2005), kantopia,Published: 20 April 2020,Retrieved: 12 October 2020
