InMystery of the Emblem, promotion gains for HP and weapon level consist of giving the character as many points as necessary—thex value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class's base value. If the character's value for one of those two stats is higher than their promoted class's base value, they will not receive any bonus in that stat.

Analysis

Warren joins in the middle ofchapter 2, right before the player is in need of bow users to take care of all of the Dracoknights in both the current and following chapters. Being a Hunter gives Warren much better terrain data than the twoArchers, who can't move through more than one forest tile per turn while Warren can move through 3 in a turn. His offensive base stats are comparable to Gordin and better than Ryan, though his 1 luck means that he risks a chance to get crit and die whenever he gets attacked.

Warren's prospects as a long-term unit are less promising. His main problem is that his speed and weapon level growths are both poor, and his bases aren't good enough to compensate. To make matters worse, he promotes to Horseman, which not only does nothing to help his statistical deficiencies, but also has poor terrain data which hinders his main advantage over the other archers. This is especially unfortunate asSnipers have better terrain data than Hunters, let alone Horsemen, while also having great speed and weapon level.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Warren joins in Chapter 2 as a level 2 Hunter, and unfortunately has little going for him. His bases are inferior across the board to Gordin's, who joined either one or five chapters prior; he is notably the only one of the player's four potential bowmen (the others being Gordin, a modestly trained Ryan, and a reclassed Arran) who cannot one-shot enemy Dracoknights in Chapters 2 and 3 with a 12 might bow. His growths are decent, with notable high marks in Strength and Skill, but are all equal or inferior to Ryan's, who has had eight and a half chapters to pull ahead of him. There is also little incentive to invest in him anyway, as he joins right around the time that some of the best units in the game (for example, Catria and Palla) join and deployment slots are at a premium. The player also gets Linde at the end of his join chapter, who can cover his two range niche while hitting on enemy Resistance and countering at one range. With all of these overwhelming problems, Warren has little to make him stand out and earn one of the player's precious deployment slots. If the player is willing to invest the extra resources to make him work, it's certainly doable, but overall he can be described as painfully average.
