Walhart (Japanese:ヴァルハルトValhalt) is the current emperor ofValm, widely known by his epithet "The Conqueror". He was responsible for, through conquest, reunitingthe continent into the modern incarnation of the ancient kingdom, transforming Valm from an unremarkably small nation into a continent-spanning powerhouse.[1]
Biography
Walhart managed to take over the country ofValm and transform it from a backwater nation into a powerful empire, with the ultimate goal of defeatingPlegia and stopping them from resurrectingGrima. He eventually took over the entire continent before setting his sights on the eastern realm ofFerox. Walhart sent a powerful navy towards Ferox, but his forces were beaten back by the combined efforts of the Feroxi military and theirYlissean allies, led byChrom andRobin. After they broke through the Valmese ships and reached Valm's soil, Walhart's forces faced more defeats as Chrom rescued the leader of the anti-Valm resistance,Say'ri, and awakened the Voice of the Divine Dragon,Tiki. His army faced another crippling blow when Chrom toppled Walhart's central division at Fort Steiger.
Walhart then fought a small division of Feroxi forces led by the khansBasilio andFlavia. Walhart personally took the field and defeated Basilio in battle, apparently killing him. (However, Basilio had been warned of his destined death byLucina, and conspired with Robin to fake his death as part of a plot against theGrimleal.) Basilio's attack turned out to be a distraction which Chrom used to attack and defeat Walhart's southern division, led by Say'ri's brother GeneralYen'fay. The loss of Yen'fay forced Walhart to retreat and regroup, allowing Chrom's forces to attack the capital of Valm and defeat Walhart, apparently killing him.
However, Walhart survived and found himself in an area just north of his capital, where he managed to subjugate a group ofRisen through sheer force of will. Chrom and theShepherds, discovering the risen, headed there and encountered Walhart once again; Chrom then battled and defeated Walhart, this time convincing him his strength would be better used working with Chrom to defeat Grima. Walhart joined Chrom's forces and helped slay the fell dragon.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Walhart is a level 30Conqueror recruited at the end ofParalogue 19, but only ifChrom has fought him at any point during the chapter. The Conqueror class is essentially a modifiedGreat Knight, featuring lower caps in Strength and Defense, and higher ones in Magic, Skill, Speed, Resistance and movement, with 8 movement at base. Walhart's base stats, as with otherSpotPass characters, are absolutely massive and grow with each difficulty increase. His growths and mods are decent as well, particularly his +4 to Strength and Defense. Starting out, Walhart's inventory only consists of his personal axe,Wolf Berg; between its 1-2 range, power comparable to high-end axes and decent Hit, it is a highly potent weapon. His only skill isConquest, which negates bonus damage from beast and armor-effective weaponry; since Conquerer is an armored cavalry class, the skill is doubly useful. For weapon ranks, he comes with instant A-ranks in swords, lances, and axes, allowing him to use every weapon in those types.
Conqueror is such a powerful class that Walhart can use it for the entirety of the game, but Conquest is the only skill the class provides. That means Walhart must reclass to obtain further skills and elevate his combat.Knight is his first reclass option; it increases his Strength and Defense growths and reduces his Magic, Speed and Resistance growths.Defense +2 will barely help Walhart given his late recruitment; the same holds true forIndoor Fighter, since the final chapter is outdoors, and the player may not have any more indoor maps where they can utilize it aside from certain Paralogues if they are played late. Knight's first promotion ofGeneral provides more HP, Strength, Skill, Defense and Resistance and gives him axe access again, but only at E-rank unless he is directly reclassed from Conqueror. General features improved Resistance growths from Knight, with no tradeoffs.Rally Defense is a nice skill to have, butPavise relies too much on Walhart's Skill stat to be directly useful. The alternative Great Knight supplies more Speed and movement and gains E swords in addition to E axes; if directly reclassed, Walhart will maintain all of his weapon ranks.Luna has the chance to half an opponent's Defense or Resistance for one strike, whileDual Guard+ increases the chance a Dual Guard will activate.
TheWyvern Rider class tree increases Walhart's Strength growth and decreases his HP, Magic and Resistance growths.Strength +2 provides a slight permanent boost to Walhart's raw power.Tantivy isn't particularly noteworthy, either, since it only provides a small boost to Hit and Avoid when the conditions are met.Wyvern Lord grants more HP, Strength and Defense and regains lance access unless Walhart is reclassed directly. Wyvern Lord shares exactly the same growths as Wyvern Rider.Quick Burn is only truly relevant for low-turncount strategies, butSwordbreaker is very powerful; it grants Walhart a whopping +50 to Hit and Avoid when fighting sword-wielding opponents. Conversely,Griffon Rider grants more Skill and Speed, but is locked to axes. Griffon increases his growths in Skill and Speed, but reduces his Strength and Defense growths.Deliverer provides extra movement whenever Walhart is paired up, andLancebreaker applies the same benefits as Swordbreaker, only when fighting lance-wielding opponents.
As Walhart only supportsRobin, he can only fatherMorgan. He passes down strong increases to HP, Strength and Defense, but his other growths are somewhat low. He cannot pass down the Conqueror class, but Morgan can inherit Conquest. However, Walhart's late recruitment leaves this pairing suboptimal as the player would have to resort to heavy grinding to build support points, and to make Morgan stronger for the final chapter. Furthermore, Walhart features fewer standout advantages as a parent relative to a unit such asAversa, another SpotPass unit who joins before the endgame.

Personality
Walhart is a strong believer in rule through blunt force, fear and conquest. He sees absolute power as the key to true peace, believing that war is significantly less likely if there is only one united nation.[2] He has no patience for the cowardly, the weak and those who lose in combat. He is incredibly strict and speaks in a manner which is slightly difficult for others to understand. He is entirely merciless in combat and as a rule, and yet he nonetheless proved to be a highly charismatic ruler among the people of Valm.
In spite of his fierce militarism, Walhart's ambitions for seeking to conquer theYlisse continent were positive: his intent was to defeatPlegia before it could follow through on revivingGrima. He is also a staunch vegetarian.

Endings
Walhart, The Conqueror (single ending)
Walhart was said to leave this world in pursuit of new conquests. Some surviving legends go so far as to place him in the Outrealms, where he reputedly found a new continent to subjugate and rule.
Walhart, The Conqueror & Robin, High Deliverer
Many wrote of Robin's legendary exploits, but accounts of her origins and character varied. Scholars, poets, and bards agreed on one thing alone—she loved her husband, Walhart, above all else.
