Biography

Main story

Early life

Veyle was born in Gradlon[5] as the daughter of Sombron and an unnamed Mage Dragon mother, and was the youngest of Sombron's children.[1] During theFirst Fell Dragon War, Veyle never once saw battle. After all their other siblings had been killed, she first met Alear, during which Alear gave their dragonstone to Veyle to show that they would always be with her,[6] and as a reminder that as long as the stone remained intact, they were still alive.[7] This dragonstone would serve as a protective charm to Veyle, who held onto it in the hopes they would eventually reunite.[8]

After Sombron was defeated by Alear and subsequently sealed,[9] Veyle's loving mother tried her best to keep Veyle safe, and told her that it was her responsibility as family to find a way to stop Sombron if he ever returned and started doing terrible things again.[10] Veyle's mother was eventually killed by humans for her involvement with Sombron,[11] and Veyle herself faced similar persecution after being exposed as a dragon by not visibly aging.[12] Due to widespread rumors of the last of Sombron's children surviving, Veyle went into hiding for centuries, until she came into contact with worshippers of the Fell Dragon. She became close to them, and they let her sleep in a hidden temple's altar within a dark forest[13] until Sombron's resurrection. However, by the time she awoke, centuries later, they had all died;[14] only a man namedMauvier resided there to witness her awakening. Though Mauvier refused her offer to be her friend, he accepted becoming her knight, being in her service from that moment on.[15]

Though Veyle was overjoyed to reunite with her father, he quickly proclaimed her a defect after discovering her inability to summonEmblems.[16] Because of her lacking abilities and overwhelming kindness, he orderedZephia to manipulate Veyle's personality, resulting in the creation of an alternate, cruel, and obedient "dark personality".[17] While her true personality ran away from home, unwilling to perform the cruel acts she was tasked to perform[18] and attempting to reunite with her long-lost sibling in the hopes they could convince Sombron to end the war,[19] her dark personality worked with theFour Hounds, whom Mauvier joined, to do Sombron's bidding. They approached KingHyacinth ofElusia, who was coerced into becoming Sombron's compliant puppet;[20][21] as a result, they were able to turnElusia Castle into their base of operations.

At an unknown point in time before she awoke, Veyle buried her own dragonstone in an unknown location in order to prevent herself from transforming into a draconic form, not wanting to use it to harm others.[22] Veyle had also applied other measures to restrain her draconic impulses with her leg cuffs.[23]

Encountering Alear

Veyle meetingAlear atFlorra Mill Town.

At the start of the war, she is ordered to break intoLythos Castle, during which she kills QueenLumera and steals four of the six Emblem Rings in Lythos from the castle's vault, but drops theDraconic Time Crystal while retreating. She travels toFirene to continue gathering the Emblem Rings, before her true personality takes over again. Noticing the attack onFlorra Mill Town, Veyle rushes in to assist the people living there, saving Alear's life in the process. They introduce themselves to each other before Veyle vanishes; due to the millennium between their meetings, neither recognizes the other as their sibling. Her dark personality takes over again, meeting with Zephia after the attack on Firene Castle and suggesting they retreat.

Having returned to her true personality at some point, Veyle travels towards theBrodian border, near which she encounters Alear again, who bandages a deep wound Veyle had obtained. They become friends, and Veyle explains her goal of finding her lost sibling before the two part ways. Veyle continues fending off the Corrupted, before her dark personality regains control and returns to Elusia. Her true self reawakens with no memory of how she traveled to Elusia, meeting Alear once more and pointing them toDestinea Cathedral where a ritual to revive Sombron's powers is meant to take place. When she notices Alear's Emblem Ring, her dark personality almost overpowers her, but she resists and runs away before her true personality loses consciousness.

Inside Destinea Cathedral, Veyle oversees the completion of the ritual. Once Sombron's powers are restored, she appears to the Divine Dragon and King Hyacinth after their battle, announcing the return of the Fell Dragon. When Hyacinth is about to be struck down, Veyle saves his life; however, this was done to allow Sombron to consume him, too, and become even stronger. As Veyle laughs at the cruelty of her father's betrayal, a grief-strickenHortensia pulls down the hood which was concealing her identity, revealing to Alear that Veyle is the same person who attacked the Ring Vault in Lythos Castle and killed Lumera. She introduces herself as Sombron's daughter and, while Alear and their army are distracted, steals back the Draconic Time Crystal, which she uses to take the six Emblem Rings Alear had gathered. She attempts to hunt down Alear through theShadowy Moor as their army makes its escape, but they escape from her with the help of Hyacinth's daughterIvy and her two retainers, who betrayed Sombron and managed to steal the Time Crystal from Veyle. As punishment for Ivy's betrayal, Veyle creates Corrupted Hyacinth to serve her before returning to Elusia Castle. She orders the Four Hounds to stand down, allow Alear to continue gathering Emblem Rings, and instead focus their efforts on attacking Firene; afterwards, she travels toSolm, where her dark personality finally loses consciousness.

Veyle's true self continues the search for her still-living sibling, oblivious to her other personality's actions. Soon after, she notices a skirmish at theNorthern Fortress and finds Alear present, happily greeting them—however, she is confronted by Alear and their allies on the atrocities her other self has committed, causing her to flee in panic and confusion. She comes acrossGriss, a member of the Four Hounds, soon after, telling him about the encounter; Griss, understanding the situation, assures Veyle of her innocence and offers to accompany her to meet the Divine Dragon again to "set things straight". She joins Griss and Zephia on the Elusian fleet headed to Firene, unaware of its true purpose. During their travels, Veyle shares with them her desire to reunite with her sibling, showing the dragonstone in her possession as irrefutable proof that they are still alive.

Struggle between personalities

Veyle's dark personality atFlorra Port.

During Elusia's attack onFlorra Port, Veyle is with the Four Hounds as Alear arrives to fend them off. Alear accuses her of orchestrating the attack, to which Veyle denies any knowledge of their horrific intentions. However, when she tries to ask Griss and Zephia for confirmation, they reveal the existence of her dark personality, alongside the fact that she personally ordered them to massacre the people of Firene. Despite Veyle's wishes, Zephia proceeds to awaken her dark personality, proving her existence as a separate identity to Alear. The dark Veyle excitedly leads the battle against the Divine Dragon's army, wielding Dark Emblem Marth herself while deploying the Four Hounds and Corrupted Hyacinth. The battle ends in a loss for Elusia, forcing the Hounds and Veyle to retreat. Having exerted herself in battle, Veyle's dark personality loses consciousness during their retreat; the real Veyle uses this opportunity to ask for the Emblem Ring Zephia possesses, which she tosses overboard and guides towards Alear, apologizing profusely to them for her other self's actions and affirming how much their friendship meant to her.

After the events at Florra Port, Veyle has fallen into a deep slumber, but is able to keep her dark personality from reawakening despite Zephia's efforts. When Sombron is made aware of this, he gifts Zephia an enchanted helmet, which amplifies the spell's effects, with the aim of eliminating the true Veyle entirely. Though Mauvier protests against continued usage of the spell to draw out her dark personality, Zephia employs the helmet as soon as Veyle wakes up, forcing her dark personality to resurface and remain dominant as long as she wears it. Now fully able to commit herself to Sombron, she travels with him to Lythos, where the Fell Dragon intends to raise his lost kingdomGradlon.

When Veyle confronts the Divine Dragon's army in Lythos Castle,Marni, who had become sympathetic towards Veyle's true self, is able to damage the helmet at the cost of her own life, which eventually allows Veyle to regain control over her body. Freed from the spell's control, she rejects her father's orders to reclaim the Emblem Rings, causing him to attack her; however, Alear shields her from the attack, resulting in their death. The dragonstone Veyle carries with her shatters, revealing Alear to be the lost sibling she was searching for—but before she has the time to properly mourn them, Zephia overpowers her mind again, aided by the broken helmet and Sombron's increased strength after using the 12 Emblem Rings. Due to the mental struggle, Veyle is on the verge of death herself. She meets Alear between life and death, where Alear convinces her to live on and become the dragon who saves the world she wants to be. Awakening with new resolve, she manages to overpower her other self and destroy the helmet, taking back full control of herself from then on. She resurrects Alear as aCorrupted temporarily, though Alear is soon after given new life permanently by the miracle of the Emblems, and the two are finally united as siblings.

Against Sombron

As Veyle joins the Divine Dragon's army, they aim to stop Sombron from invading other worlds. They must destroy the three Fell Dragon Shards across Gradlon to reach him, which Veyle is able to sense due to being a Fell Dragon, as they power a powerful barrier guarding him. The first shard is guarded by Zephia and Griss, who Veyle unsuccessfully tries to convince to stand down. After a fierce battle, Sombron's Hounds are struck down, allowing Veyle to say a final goodbye to her former allies. As she lays dying, Zephia gifts Veyle an enchanted crystal to aid her in destroying the second, otherwise-impossible-to-break shard. Promising to always remember her, she thanks Zephia for all she's done for her and leaves, heartbroken but determined.

She uses Zephia's enchanted crystal to reach─and break─the second shard, after which she senses the third shard being guarded byCorrupted Lumera inGradlon Temple. Though Veyle attempts to defeat the resurrected Divine Dragon Queen herself for the sake of her sibling, Alear intervenes, and they defeat Corrupted Lumera together. With the shards broken, the barrier is destroyed, allowing Alear and their army to reach Sombron. Ultimately, they succeed in defeating Sombron and returning peace to Elyos.

After the war

Veyle helping people atGivre Port.

After Sombron's defeat, Veyle attends Alear's coronation before continuing to reside on theSomniel, maintaining it alongsideSommie and the occasional help from Mauvier.[24] One year later, on the anniversary of Alear's coronation, a banquet is held on the Somniel, during which Veyle confides her plans to the future to Alear: traveling Elyos to help people and, eventually, returning to Gradlon in order to turn it into a flourishing and beautiful country, in spite of its reputation as a cursed land.[25] With Alear's support, she eventually accomplishes what she sets out to do, helping the people her other self hurt during the war[26] and bringing beauty to Gradlon. Though she initially refuses to become Queen of Gradlon, she accepts the title over a century later in accordance with her people's wishes.[27]

Fell Xenologue

In another Elyos, Veyle was born as a daughter to Sombron,[28] presumably alongside a twin sibling.[29] Despite the harsh, might-makes-right culture among Fell Dragon children,[30] she maintained her kindness,[31] though she remained with Sombron. She took Mauvier as her knight, who took an oath to protect her─however, during the second war against Sombron, she was killed in a meaningless battle,[32] which resulted in Mauvier switching sides.[33]

Fire Emblem Engage

Role

Veyle is a supporting character and recurring antagonist, before becoming a playable character. She initially appears at the end ofChapter 3 as an anonymous enemy general. She is formally introduced afterChapter 4, and reappears inChapter 6,Chapter 7, andChapter 9 to assist Alear, reveal her goal to reunite with her sibling, and fend off the Corrupted. InChapter 10, her antagonistic role is revealed, and she appears as a stationary boss in the ensuingChapter 11, during which she is immune to all in-combat damage and cannot be defeated. She is shown in cutscenes afterChapter 12 andChapter 14, and reappears afterChapter 15 to assist Alear again, but is fended off by them and their allies. She appears once more in a cutscene afterChapter 16, discussing her goal of reuniting with her sibling to Zephia and Griss.

Veyle serves as a boss duringChapter 17, after Zephia reawakens her dark personality. She is paired with the Dark EmblemMarth, and begins moving when nearby allies are provoked: a nearbyHigh Priest,Royal Knight, orPaladin on Normal Mode; the aforementioned alongsideCorrupted Hyacinth and a nearbyGeneral orCorrupted Wyrm on Hard Mode; and the aforementioned alongsideZephia on Maddening Mode. She possesses oneRevival Stone, and obtainsMercurius andBreak Defenses after using it.

Veyle reappears as the boss ofChapter 21, her true personality forced to lay dormant by an enchanted helmet. She is paired with Dark EmblemMarth once again, and begins moving when nearby allies are provoked: a nearbyGeneral,Thief,Sage, orHigh Priest on Normal and Hard Mode, and the aforementioned alongside the nearbySwordmaster on Maddening Mode. She starts on aprotection tile and, on Hard and Maddening Mode, will not move beyond the protection tiles, which grant her +30avoid,Break immunity, and 10 HP recovery every turn. Unlike her previous appearance, she is able to useLodestar Rush again after not using it for two (Normal) / one (Hard/Maddening) turn(s). She possesses twoRevival Stones, but does not obtain any additional benefits when using them.

Veyle joins automatically on turn 1 ofChapter 22, having rid herself of her dark personality for good. She possesses a unique variant of theFell Child class. Herpersonal weapons are the magic knifeMisericorde and the dark tomeObscurité, sharing only the latter with the enemy-exclusiveSombron, as well asNel andRafal if they arereclassed to a tome-wielding class. Her personal skill,Fell Protection, allows adjacent allies to deal +1 damage and take 3 less damage; alongside that, her unique class additionally grants her the skillFell Spirit, which fills herengage meter by 1 at the start of each turn.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Veyle is the final playable character that joins the army if the player has not downloaded theFell Xenologue and comes in the uniqueFell Child class, which is only shared byNel andRafal. One thing to note about Veyle is that her unique class ability,Fell Spirit, which charges the engage meter by one step per turn, can by itself break the game in interesting ways, such as by enabling massive experience generation through repeated use ofTiki orByleth's engage attacks.

If the player does not wish to resort to such shenanigans, the Fell Child class still counts as a Dragon and therefore offers strong interactions with other Emblems, most notablySoren's which will enable Veyle to always crit while engaged, becoming a terrifying offensive unit. If any enemies remain after four turns of Veyle wreaking chaos, she can recharge the engage meter quite easily with her class ability andNova. This does not make Veyle invincible, as the Fell Child class offers poor overall stats and growths, with a Spd of just 23+0.5/level (with Tiki's Starsphere, which is questionable on Veyle). While a Soren-supported Veyle will not need to double to one-round, she will easily be doubled and destroyed on defense, with enemy units already boasting 30+ speed by the time she joins. If Veyle is to hold Soren's emblem, savingSpeedwings for her should be considered, she will also appreciate a pair of Boots which can fortunately be found two chapters after her recruitment. Corrin and Byleth similarly synergize well with Fell Child, with the former allowing her to create all forms of terrain effects, and the latter giving her Instructs and Goddess Dances buffs to every stat. If Soren and other Dragon-friendly Emblems are needed elsewhere, the Fell Child class offers little and Veyle's reclassing options should be explored.

Levin Sword Griffin Knight is a safe choice, immediately boosting Veyle's speed to 29, which she can further increase through tonics, skills and an emblem ring. This will allow her to double most targets, capitalizing on her high magic. On top of alleviating Veyle's speed shortage, Griffin Knight also gives her solid stats and growths everywhere else, effectively making her a slightly weakerChloé, which is still quite good, especially considering how little investment is needed.

Unlike most units that start with high SP, Veyle may not want to immediately inherit Tiki's Starsphere, as her starting level is very high. If a good number of side missions remain unplayed upon her recruitment, and she will be used as a dominant unit with Soren (or perhaps just Engage+), she can expect to gain another 15 or so levels before the (very challenging) final two chapters, in which case Tiki has some merit. If Veyle is to see limited deployment, then using both slots for instantly useful skills such as Spd+3 and Speedtaker makes more sense.

If the player doesn't expect Veyle to get much more EXP (and consequently SP), then she won't mind the SP gain penalty from a bond ring and can explore some exotic reclass options, such as a Thunder Mage Knight with an Olwen S ring, or a Radiant Bow Knight with a Claude S ring; Veyle is a better choice than most units for bows or 3-range spells, as her personal ability gives her some enemy phase presence even if her weapon is ill-suited to counterattacking.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Main article:Veyle/Heroes

There are four different variations of Veyle available inHeroes.

Personality

Veyle has two personalities: her true personality, which is gentle and kind, and a "dark personality",[34][35] which formed after Zephia used magic to strengthen her draconic impulses in order to make her a more desirable child to Sombron.[36] While one consciousness is awake, the other sleeps, with neither personality sharing memories with the other while dormant.[37][38][39] Once the true self is made aware of her dark personality, she is able to resist its awakening despite further attempts to strengthen her draconic impulses;[40] contrarily, her dark personality is unable to prevent the true Veyle from waking up by herself.

The personalities have noticeably different speaking styles, with the dark personality speaking in a deeper tone and using less childish terms like "Father" instead of "Papa". In the Japanese script, Veyle's true personality speaks mostly in hiragana to represent her innocent demeanor, while her dark personality speaks fully in kanji to contrast it. The two also have different tastes in food; whereas the true Veyle loves spicy food and dislikes sweets, her dark personality adores sweets and cannot stand spicy food.[41][42]

True personality

Veyle's true self is an altruistic and heroic character who takes after her kind, loving mother,[10] not hesitating to defend people in need.[43] She actively refuses to take part in the cruel actions of her father,[18] instead hoping to bring peace and happiness to the world[44][45] and believing in the goodness of humanity.[46] However, this causes her much pain and despair due to her Fell Dragon heritage and her status as Sombron's daughter. Given her peaceful nature and her inability to fulfill Sombron's goals, she is seen as insignificant to her father and disregarded, despite her desire for him to acknowledge her as his daughter and enjoy spending time with her.[47] Meanwhile, her Fell Dragon heritage caused many people to fear her and treat her with hatred and contempt, which she eventually came to internalize as a moral failure on her end.[48] Rejected by both her father and the people of Elyos, and living through the death of her mother, Veyle grew up alone and isolated from others,[9] unaccustomed to being treated with kindness and desperate for friendship.[49] Though she tried to find those things in the followers of the Fell Dragon, they treated her as an object of reverence instead and were unable to accept forming a closer connection to her.[15][50][51] The one genuine bond which was promised to her—the one with her older sibling, Alear—became something she would cling onto as her motivation to continue living, with the dragonstone enforcing that connection and promising their reunion serving as her protective talisman.[8]

Before reuniting with Alear, Veyle is solely focused on her reunion with her lost sibling, motivated both by her desire for a genuine connection[7] as well as her desire to stop the war, hoping that they would be able to convince Sombron together,[19] only halting her search to help others in need. While she is keen to help others, she regularly neglects her own well-being, having gotten used to withstanding pain.[52] She is unnerved by the blackouts caused by her dark personality awakening on a regular basis, which she recognizes as unnatural but remains unaware of their origin.[37] Veyle also attempts to form a bond with the Four Hounds, who use this to manipulate her—though she is able to point out their conflicting loyalties,[53] she turns a blind eye to her doubts in her desire for friendship.[54] Once the truth comes out about her other self and the extent to which her trust has been betrayed, Veyle remains strong-willed and continues to resist her father's efforts[40][55]—it is only after Alear dies that she gives into despair, worn down and finally reunited with her lost sibling.[56] However, she is encouraged to continue fighting by Alear and, with their help, is able to find the will to live again, having placed her faith in her divine sibling[57] and imagining a future for herself for the first time.[58]

Veyle starts to enjoy life after joining forces with Alear, overjoyed to be surrounded with friends.[59][60][61][62] However, she remains plagued with insecurities, unsure whether or not she is allowed to exist alongside her new friends[63][64] or, for that matter, allowed happiness at all.[65] She feels a deep sense of guilt and responsibility for the actions of her dark personality,[66] despite knowing she was not in control of her other personality,[67] and wants to personally repay the people she hurt during the war.[68] Veyle desperately wishes to atone for her actions as Sombron's daughter and as his puppet,[69][70][71] which involves her actively seeking out people in need,[72] as well as recklessly throwing herself into combat.[73] She continues to struggle with her self worth[74][75] and maintaining her own well-being,[76][77] self-conscious about her identity as a Fell Dragon,[78][79] and finding it difficult to accept generosity without any compensation;[80][81] even during the rare moments she allows herself to ask others for help,[82] she expresses an unwillingness to take up too much of their time.[83] When confronted with the need to confront her past mistakes and former allies, she is determined to overcome them by herself and wants to find closure on her own terms,[84][85] even if it is difficult to do so;[86] conversely, when Alear is faced with a similar situation, she tries her hardest to confront it in their stead in order to protect them.[87][88][89]

Veyle has a difficult relationship with her father and his followers. Even though she stands in direct opposition to Sombron's ideals, she has spent her entire life wanting his love and validation,[47] a desire which only subdues after spending time forming a proper familial bond with Alear.[90] She recognizes the ways in which his neglect has hurt her,[91] and while she wants to stop him from hurting others, she cannot find it in herself to hate her father[92] and believes herself to be at least partially responsible for his malicious actions.[69] However, she can find catharsis in fighting him directly, proving her worth by striking down the person who refused to acknowledge her[93] and redefining what it means to be a Fell Dragon.[94][95] Veyle similarly has no problems fighting the remaining Hounds after they betrayed her,[96][97] but she is willing to give them a chance to redeem themselves first[84] and is frustrated at Zephia's insistence on dying before switching sides.[98] Though she does not regret fighting them, it still upsets her,[99] and she accepts Zephia's final act of kindness in earnest.[100] Though she appears to never have been too close to Marni, and she was part of the group deceiving her,[101] the circumstances surrounding her death cause Veyle to feel personally responsible[102] and leaves her with lingering regrets.[103]

Veyle is a smart, curious character, able to quickly come up with new solutions[55][104] and willing to explore new possibilities,[105] even if they may make her uncomfortable.[106] She has a bit of a mischievous streak[107] and is happy to humor others in silly situations.[108] She admits to being jealous of seeing others spend time with their families,[109] and is excited to obtain new family relationships when given the opportunity.[110] Motivated by her dream,[111] and wanting to live up to Alear's example,[112] she wants to get stronger, even if her own power scares her with how it had been used to hurt others.[113][114] Though she does not fully believe she has been given the opportunity to live her own life, still feeling an urge to hide from others[115] and referring to happy events in the present as dreams she may soon wake up from,[49][116][117] she is proud of the person she's become in it.[118]

Dark personality

Unlike her true personality, Veyle's dark personality is loyal to Sombron and takes pride in her Fell Dragon heritage,[2] believing her race to be superior to Divine Dragons and humans alike.[119] She sees herself as the true Veyle, as well as the only one worthy of Sombron's legacy.[120][121] To this end, she tries to help fulfil his goals and seeks to end Alear personally—both to prevent her father's plans from being interfered with as well as to ensure she is the only child of Sombron remaining.[122][123] She views her true self as a pathetic defect, and wishes for her to be destroyed for good.[39][124]

Her dark personality enjoys acts of cruelty,[125] skillfully targeting the weaknesses of her opponents,[126][127][128][129] as well as rubbing in their shortcomings and failures.[130][131][132] She particularly enjoys "toying" with her foes, taunting them when she believes herself to have the upper hand.[133][134] She is shown to have excessive confidence in her own abilities,[135] and is exceedingly irritated when faced with failure.[136][137] She is also rather cunning, letting Alear collect the individual rings for her[138] and intentionally playing into the desires of her allies to ensure their loyalty,[139] despite—as theorized by the true Veyle—not genuinely recognizing them as dependable allies.[140] In her final moments, this comes to haunt her; she is only able to beg for her father's help, who similarly does not truly care for her.[141]

After her dark personality is sealed away for good, Veyle wonders if it is considered dead and able to pass on to the afterlife.[142] Though she believes it to be gone, she still expresses worry about it returning;[143][144] worries which can be proven right should Alear lose the final battle.

InHeroes, Veyle's dark personality is portrayed as still sharing a body with her true personality, with the latter stirring[145] but unable to truly awaken.[146] Despite being in another world, she still intends to carry out her mission of gathering the Emblem Rings for Sombron, whether she's been summoned[147] or not.[148] Her goal of being Sombron's only child is shown to extend toNel andRafal, even if they are from a different world, intending to kill them despite the no-kill rules enforced by the Order of Heroes.[149]

However, she is also portrayed more tragically. She fears that she will be considered a defect if she shows weakness[150] and, despite knowing deep down that Sombron does not really care for her,[151] continues to remain loyal to him. Though she pretends that her loyalty is due to her blood ties to him,[152] it is really out of a desperate desire to be loved by her father and drive away feelings of loneliness and helplessness.[153] She also acknowledges her lack of individual identity, having no existence or belongings outside of being "Veyle" except for the outfit Sombron gave her.[154]

Another world

The Fell Xenologue world's version of Veyle was described vicariously by the late Mauvier to theFour Winds as quite strict, but very kind and noble,[31] with her kindness noted as being similar to Veyle's true personality.[155]

Veyle: Mm–hmm. All of our siblings had died in the war. You were the only one to survive, and you came to see me. I was very young then—frail and frightened—and you handed me the dragonstone. You told me that you couldn't stay by my side but that you were still with me no matter what.

  14. "Mauvier: She could find no friends in an age when it was rumored a last Fell Dragon child had survived. Lady Veyle lived in hiding, knowing that─were she discovered─she would be killed.
Alear: A thousand years, living like that... All alone that whole time?
Mauvier: Not exactly. A few centuries ago, she came into contact with worshippers of the Fell Dragon... In their care, she slept in a hidden temple─until Lord Sombron's release. She had been, long ago, close with those in that temple. But when she recently awoke...
Alear: They were all dead, weren't they...
    " —Mauvier andAlear,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  15. 15.015.1"I was there at the hidden temple where Lady Veyle slept. When she awoke... I was there to speak with her. She, a royal dragon, asked me to be her friend. I said it was impossible. Lady Veyle then asked if I could offer my service to her as a knight." —Mauvier,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  16. "Well, as a start, dragon royalty should be able to summon Emblems. She cannot. Lord Sombron learned this recently, soon after his revival, when reunited with Lady Veyle." —Mauvier,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  17. "So, Lady Veyle was relieved, even overjoyed, to find herself reunited with Lord Sombron. He detested her and proclaimed her a defect lacking a Fell Dragon's abilities and character. 37. 37.037.1"Veyle: Urgh... I must sleep. Curse this feeble form of mine for plunging me into darkness. I pray that next time, my waking hours will not end so soon. ...
(Veyle's dark personality loses consciousness, and her true personality awakens.)
Veyle: ... Sand? But...what happened to all the snow? Where am I? Why does this keep happening to me?
    " — Veyle,Chapter 14,Fire Emblem Engage
  38. "Veyle: That's... That's why I kept waking up in places I didn't recognize...
Zephia: Yes. As your consciousness slept, the other was awake, carrying out her work. Think of it. You, fighting the Corrupted...that you had created!
    " — Veyle andZephia,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  39. 39.039.1"You know, seeing as how I don't share memories with that pathetic little girl...I simply had no idea you and I were friends now." — Veyle,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  40. 40.040.1"Sombron: And Veyle?
Zephia: Still in a deep slumber. No matter how much I amplify her draconic impulses, she won't awaken.
Sombron: She refuses her true nature...
    " —Sombron andZephia,Chapter 18,Fire Emblem Engage
  41. "Hortensia: Good. Then, as a token of our friendship...please accept these sweets. These are your favorites, right?
    Veyle: Oh, um...
Hortensia: I was sure Father said you loved these... Am I misremembering?
Veyle: Sorry, Hortensia. I don't like sweet food at all.
    Hortensia: You don't?
Veyle: The...other me...might have liked sweets. But the real me loves spicy food.
Hortensia: Oh, wow. Hm-hm, you really are a completely different person from before.
    " —Hortensia and Veyle,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  42. "Veyle: I love spicy food!
Ivy: You do? Father told me you couldn't stand it. Perhaps I misheard him?
    " — Veyle andIvy,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  43. "Alear: You saved my life. Thank you.
Veyle: It was nothing, really! I only did what anyone else would do.
Alear: Are you here by yourself?
Veyle: I am. I saw the fighting and thought I could help.
    " —Alear and Veyle,Chapter 4,Fire Emblem Engage
  44. "Zephia: Lord Sombron desired a Fell Child suitable to carry on his legacy. You disobeyed him. Failed to use your Fell Dragon powers. Wished for peace. Hmph." —Zephia,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  45. "My wish is to bring peace and happiness to this world." — Veyle toSeadall,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  46. "Veyle: Oh, the townsfolk seem so pleased! I can barely believe all the thanks pouring in.
Mauvier: Yes, the people do seem most appreciative. But our work has only just begun.
Veyle: I hope they know our feelings are genuine and that we mean them well.
Mauvier: I was concerned they would hold a grudge. Revenge makes more sense than forgiveness.
Veyle: I told you. The people here are good.
    " — Veyle andMauvier,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  47. 47.047.1"I tried so hard. I wanted Papa to look at me and not see a defect. I wanted him to forget about the other worlds and just be with me. I'd always think, "If only I tried harder..." But it never mattered! I kept getting crushed over and over..." — Veyle,Chapter 22,Fire Emblem Engage
  48. "Veyle: ... Um, Merrin... I wonder, do you only find me...cool because I'm a dragon?
Merrin: Oh! No, Lady Veyle, not at all! I think you're cool because of who you are. I really do. But I have to ask, do you feel ashamed that you're a dragon?
Veyle: Yes, of course I do. My whole life people have hated me because of it.
Merrin: That's not your fault. That's their fault. They hated you without really knowing you.
Veyle: But I must have some bad qualities for people to hate me that much.
    " — Veyle andMerrin,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  49. 49.049.1"Veyle: Thank you. You're quite kind to help a complete stranger like me.
Alear: You're not a stranger. You saved my life, remember? That makes us friends, as far as I'm concerned. And friends help each other.
    Veyle: Friends... ...
Alear: Should I not have said that?
Veyle: No, no. I'm just so happy to have someone I can call a friend. It's like a dream. I can't recall the last time I was treated with such kindness.
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 6,Fire Emblem Engage
  50. "Citrinne: But... But... Oh, won't you please just accept just one of these things? For my sake?
Veyle: For your sake? What do you mean? Oh. I understand. This isn't a gift—it's an offering. It's like when the worshippers from Elusia kept giving me all those fancy offerings... Hoping their wishes and prayers would be granted.
    Citrinne: Really? Oh my.
Veyle: Well, I won't accept anything from you, Citrinne. It's unfortunate, really. All I wanted was for us to be friends.

  52. "Alear: But don't forget to take care of yourself. Look─your leg's wounded.
Veyle: This kind of thing happens all the time.
    " —Alear and Veyle,Chapter 6,Fire Emblem Engage
  53. "Griss: You wanna try and speak with 'em again? Set things straight?
Veyle: I do, but... Weren't you going to bring me back?
Griss: If this is what you want, I'll help out. Nothing if not loyal, that's me.
Veyle: All right... Thank you, Griss. It seems I misjudged you.
    " —Griss and Veyle,Chapter 15,Fire Emblem Engage
  54. "Veyle: I'm surprised you came with us, Zephia. You're so loyal to Papa, I figured there was no way you'd approve of this.
Zephia: Oh? Well, your father is my master. But... Lately, his orders have been somewhat concerning.
Veyle: I know exactly what you mean. He thinks nothing of killing people. I have the same blood in my veins, of course. Maybe it's natural people mistrust me.
Zephia: Oh, Lady Veyle, no. I heard about those awful things the Divine Dragon said. That you killed Lumera? Stole the rings? If I were you, I wouldn't believe a word of it.
    " — Veyle andZephia,Chapter 16,Fire Emblem Engage
  55. 55.055.1"Veyle: ...
    Zephia: Is something the matter?
Veyle: Zephia. Give me your ring.
    Zephia: What are you planning?
    Veyle: Just do it!
    Zephia: Very well.
    [...]
(Veyle tosses the ring overboard, guiding it into the hand of Alear.)
    " — Veyle andZephia,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  56. "Alear: You have a link back home. There's still a chance for you.
    Veyle: No... No more.
    Alear: What?
Veyle: I tried so hard. I wanted Papa to look at me and not see a defect. [...] But it never mattered! I kept getting crushed over and over... I'm so tired. If I have to die again and fail once more... I'd rather it just end here─with you.
    Alear: Oh, Veyle...
Veyle: Hey. Why don't we fall asleep...together? The world will end with or without us. And...I feel happy because I finally found you. Maybe the others will join us eventually.
    " —Alear and Veyle,Chapter 22,Fire Emblem Engage
  57. "Eirika: Do you ever get tired of fighting, Veyle? I...sometimes wonder if anyone ever truly wins.
Veyle: I used to feel that way. But I've put my trust in someone, and I will follow where they lead.
    " —Eirika and Veyle,B Bond,Fire Emblem Engage

    Ivy: Don't do this.
Veyle: I understand he was a gentle king who took good care of his people and his family, before... If it weren't for my father, he'd still be with his family—with you.
Ivy: Please, no more. The past is past. There is no use dwelling on it.
Veyle: I know you feel that way, but I...
Ivy: You owe me no apologies. Your father's sins are not yours to bear.
Veyle: I don't feel like that's true. Please, I have to do something.

  72. "Veyle: Diamant, is there anything that's troubling you right now?
Diamant: Lady Veyle? Why the sudden concern?
Veyle: I did...something awful to you. I want to atone for what I've done...if I can.
Diamant: Do you mean my father? You don't need to atone for that. You weren't yourself then.
Veyle: Still, I want to make things right.
    " — Veyle andDiamant,C Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  73. "Soren: You often fight recklessly. If you keep that up, I will pull you from the front lines.
Veyle: I'm sorry. I'll try to do better next time. Please let me keep fighting. I want to be useful.
    " —Soren and Veyle,A Bond,Fire Emblem Engage
  74. "Alear: I can't imagine giving this ring to anyone else.
Veyle: I can't accept this. This is very special to you, Divine One. I'm the one who took Lumera's life! I don't deserve it.
    " —Alear and Veyle,Ring Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  75. "I'm sorry, this is too much for me. Really. I feel funny about accepting such an expensive gift." — Veyle, when receiving a disliked gift,Fire Emblem Engage
(Veyle's list of disliked gifts, outside of the universally disliked Horse Manure, consists entirely of luxury items.)
  76. "The pain, the wounds...I don't care about that. I just can't die." — Veyle, when defeated (Classic Mode),Fire Emblem Engage
  77. "Everyday outfit for Veyle, daughter of the Fell Dragon. She pays little attention to her attire, so her fashion-conscious friends chose this outfit." — Description of the Lacy Dress outfit,Fire Emblem Engage
  78. "Veyle: Um... I am a dragon. But I'm a Fell Dragon, not a Divine Dragon. Aren't you...afraid of me?
Merrin: Not at all! Honestly, I'm just so happy I have this chance to talk with you, Lady Veyle.
Veyle: Oh, I see. It's just strange because most people are frightened of me...or dislike me.

  80. "Veyle: I understand that the people who live in the queendom of Solm are quite free-spirited... But what are you...why is everyone...being so kind to me? It's just...it doesn't make sense.
Pandreo: Well, as angry and vengeful as humans can be, they can also be compassionate, forgiving. Many people, in Solm and beyond, recognize that you've changed for the better. I'm sure if they met you in person, they would show you nothing but kindness.
Veyle: They would? Really? If that's how it is, I suppose I'd like to give something back to everyone. They've given me the gift of happiness, and I want to repay them.
    " — Veyle andPandreo,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  81. "Veyle: Thank you so much for lending your strength, Celica. Now, what can I do in return?
Celica: You don't need to do anything. I'm just happy to spend time with you.
Veyle: But that's not enough. Please, tell me what I can do for you.
    " — Veyle andCelica,A Bond,Fire Emblem Engage
  82. "Veyle: I have worries that I actually want to solve, not just forget about.
Alfred: Then tell me all about 'em.
Veyle: OK. Well, I want to find a way to be of help to people once this war is over. I don't know exactly what to do yet, but... I wondered if I could ask you for help figuring it out?
Alfred: Of course! I'm happy to do whatever I can.
Veyle: Oh, thank you! I knew you were the right person to ask. But here's what worries me. Alfred, I did so many bad things...before. I don't think anyone, except maybe the people here, will accept my help.
    " — Veyle andAlfred,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  83. "Alfred: But I guess this doesn't go too far toward solving your problems, huh? Maybe there's something more I can do right now?
Veyle: No, it's OK. You've done so much for me already. Thank you, Alfred.
    " —Alfred and Veyle,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  84. 84.084.1"Zephia: I serve Lord Sombron. I've done so for a very long time, fully committed to anything he needs.
Griss: I got no plans to switch sides. Not even if we lose. Got it?
Veyle: I see. I suppose this is goodbye, then. I'm sorry to say, we've got no other choice but to fight them.
    Alear: Are you sure?
Veyle: They're not listening. If only they would leave for their own sakes, but they want to fight. We need to stop Papa. That means I have to put them behind me. It's...about time I do.
    " —Zephia,Griss, Veyle, andAlear,Chapter 23,Fire Emblem Engage
  85. "Corrupted Lumera: Here to kill me. Again. Why another attempt? You must know the result will be the same.
Veyle: I still have to try. No matter how many times I fail, I'm not going to give up. [Alear] taught me I can shape the future for the better!
" —Corrupted Lumera and Veyle,Chapter 25,Fire Emblem Engage
  86. "Thank you for letting me tell you how I felt about Papa the other day. It's hard, but I'm finally ready to break that bond I had with him. I'll do it with my own hands too." — Veyle,A Rank Wake Up Event,Fire Emblem Engage
  87. "Veyle: I have a request. Please let me go in alone. I'll destroy the shard and come right back.
Alear: What?! I can't let you do that. It's too dangerous.
Veyle: Trust me. You won't want to face what's ahead. It's best that you─and our friends─stay here. [...] Let me spare you from this.
Alear: From what? I don't understand.
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 25,Fire Emblem Engage
  88. "Alear: You knew, didn't you? You knew this had happened to Mother.
Veyle: I did... I also knew that we couldn't help her. [...] You don't have to do anything, [Alear]. Leave this to me.
    " —Alear and Veyle,Chapter 25,Fire Emblem Engage
  89. "Veyle: Forgive me for this.
Corrupted Lumera: Goodness. Did you come to see me all by your lonesome?
Veyle: Your own child shouldn't have to strike you down.
Corrupted Lumera: How heroic of you.
    " — Veyle andCorrupted Lumera,Chapter 25,Fire Emblem Engage
  90. "I spent so long wishing I could see you and spend time with you. Part of me wants the same with Papa. No, I used to want that... But that wish...that dream...is gone." — Veyle,A Rank Wake Up Event,Fire Emblem Engage
  91. "Alear: Before we reach that future, we'll have to face Sombron. Are you ready for that, Veyle?
Veyle: I am. I'm not afraid to stand up to him. I was so lonely, I couldn't admit it, but...he stopped being my father long ago. There's no bond left to break.
    " —Alear and Veyle,Chapter 25,Fire Emblem Engage
  92. "Alear: Veyle, there's...something I'd like to ask you. How do you feel about our father? About Sombron?
Veyle: Oh... [...] Papa hurt so many people in the past. And now he's doing it again. He is...evil. He's never shown me kindness. I'm not sure he thinks of me at all. Still... He is family, just like you. So I can't hate him entirely.
    Alear: I understand.
Veyle: Sometimes I just wish I could be part of a happy family. But I know that's a silly dream. At the very least, I hope I can stop Papa before he hurts anyone else. No, I will stop him.
    " —Alear and Veyle,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  93. "Veyle: Papa...
Sombron: Oh, the defect. I thought myself rid of you, yet here you are.
    Veyle: Heh.
    Sombron: You laugh.
Veyle: You're angry because I persisted and survived. It almost feels like praise. We never spent time together as father and daughter, like I wanted. But I'm glad I didn't give up. I made it. Because now, I can be the one who defeats you.
    " — Veyle andSombron,Chapter 26,Fire Emblem Engage
  94. "I'll be with you every step of the way. I can't summon Emblems, and I can't turn into a dragon. But I'm a royal dragon all the same! There's gotta be something I can do to help." — Veyle,Chapter 26,Fire Emblem Engage
  95. "I'm more than just a Fell Dragon!" — Veyle,dealing a critical hit,Fire Emblem Engage
  96. "Long ago, I had a retainer. She was a Mage Dragon, like you. She would treat me kindly and listen to me, the same way you do. I thought maybe she and I could be friends. I really liked her. But then we were forced to fight on opposite sides, and that was the end of any friendship. I know you're not her. But you look so much alike that seeing you brings back memories." — Veyle toZelestia,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  97. "Veyle: Griss!
Gregory: Lady Veyle? You look shocked. Did something happen?
Veyle: Oh, it's nothing, um...Gregory. I'm sorry. Please, don't mind me. [...] I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be difficult.
Gregory: No, don't apologize! I just... Wait, you're shaking. Are you OK?
Veyle: I'm fine. Seeing you...brings back memories.
Gregory: Memories of the me from this world, you mean? Judging by your expression, I'm guessing they aren't good ones.
Veyle: I'm sorry, Gregory. I do understand that you are a different person. It's just that, well...
    " — Veyle andGregory,C Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  98. "Veyle: Why are you helping us now?
Zephia: Hah...I'm not sure of that myself. Perhaps here at the close, I'm feeling that it's just the right thing to do. [...] Do be careful, Lady Veyle. I'll pray for your good fortune in the battles ahead.
Veyle: You─ You could have done this at any time! Any time at all! But now you're dying! We could have made things right! If only you'd told us any of this before we fought, maybe we could have forgiven...
    " — Veyle andZephia,Chapter 23,Fire Emblem Engage
  99. "So, the Four Hounds are...no more. I don't have any regrets. Still...I am a little sad." — Veyle, exploration dialogue duringChapter 23,Fire Emblem Engage
  100. "Zephia: Some advice, dear. Leave those you cannot understand behind─forget them entirely. It's just unsettling to let someone like that linger in your thoughts as you grow older.
Veyle: Once we defeat Papa, and peace arrives... I won't forget you, Zephia. No matter how many hundreds or thousands of years may pass.
Zephia: Oh, child... No more of that, please. [...] Goodbye, Lady Veyle. [...]
Veyle: Goodbye, Zephia. ... Thank you...for everything.
Zephia: You are too kind, child.
    " —Zephia and Veyle,Chapter 23,Fire Emblem Engage
  101. "Zephia, Griss, Marni, Mauvier... You weren't my friends! I'm alone! I've always been alone! I... I..." — Veyle,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  102. "Veyle: Thank you. You see, it's about a knight named Marni. Someone you resemble. When I was fighting against the Divine Dragon, I was under the spell of an enchanted helmet. Marni tried to break this helmet, and she managed to put a crack in it. Thanks to that brave act, I regained my senses. I feel that I owe her my life.
Madeline: Just the sort of courageous act I'd expect from one of your knights.
Veyle: Yes. But because of it, Marni was killed. [...] She gave her life for mine, and I didn't have a chance to thank her or say goodbye. I know that you're not her. But I still wanted to explain my feelings.
Madeline: I see. You're right—I'm not Marni. But I believe I know how she felt. A knight's duty is to lay down her life for those she serves. For you, I am sure she did it gladly. And what a wonderful knight that makes her, to have fulfilled her purpose.
Veyle: But don't you see? It was my fault she died.
    " — Veyle andMadeline,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  103. "Madeline: I can't imagine how it felt to endure losing such a brave and loyal knight. And to continue fighting with that pain in your heart... You must be quite strong indeed. Please, know that this isn't idle flattery. I just think you've done so well.
    Veyle: You think I've...what?
Madeline: Apologies. I just think that you deserved praise for standing tall after that tragic loss. I am speaking well above my station, I know. But it needed saying.
    (Veyle starts crying.)
Madeline: Oh dear! Lady Veyle. Forgive me for speaking out of turn yet again...
Veyle: No... These are tears of joy. Mauvier told me what Marni's last words were. At the end, Marni said exactly what you told me just now. “Tell her she's done so well.” You had no way of knowing that, but still you said it. Finally, I could hear her parting words for myself... I can't stop crying!
    " — Veyle andMadeline,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  104. "Diamant: I must find a way to let my people know that I want— No, I need to hear from them. I'm just not sure how to do that...
Veyle: Oh! That's easy! I know exactly what to do.
Diamant: If you have an idea, I'm all ears.
Veyle: Well, there's a type of food I really love. It's delicious and very exciting to eat. So I could prepare the food, and you could host a banquet. It would be our treat to everyone.
Diamant: Ahh, I see... If we host an informal dinner for the town, then people might not find me so intimidating...
Veyle: Exactly! Food is the perfect way to win people's hearts.
    " —Diamant and Veyle,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  105. "Clanne: You can't make pickles with peppers.
Veyle: Are you sure about that? I mean, is this really all a pickle can be?
    Clanne: Huh?
Veyle: How will you ever create a new pickle recipe if you've already decided how pickles taste?
    " —Clanne and Veyle,C Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  106. "Timerra: Good! You're learning. The biggest thrills in life always involve a little fear.
Veyle: Hehe... I'm sure you're right, Timerra. It is good to do things that make us uncomfortable.
    " —Timerra and Veyle,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  107. "Alfred: You just look so dead set on eating that soup, no matter how spicy it is.
Veyle: It's my favorite, but I can't help but make a weird face every time I eat it. I know. How about you give it a try? It's so spicy you'll make a weird face too. Just you wait and see!
Alfred: Challenge accepted! Eww... Hmm? AHH! HOT! Too hot! Need water NOW!
Veyle: Hehehe, see! Your face was way weirder than mine. I win!
    " —Alfred and Veyle,C Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  108. "Veyle: Well, how about you tell my fortune anyway? I won't mind if you get it wrong.
    Seadall: What? But why?
Veyle: Humor me. I'll just assume your reading is incorrect.
Seadall: If that's what you want. Let's begin... ... All is revealed. Go to the market and act like a cat. Good fortune shall be given you back.
Veyle: Act like a cat...in the market? That's a little strange, isn't it?
Seadall: Definitely strange. I told you I'm all out of sorts. Just pay it no mind. It won't come true.
Veyle: Hehe, if you say so.
    [...]
Veyle: Seadall! Your fortune the other day. It was right!
    Seadall: What do you mean?
Veyle: I did what you said. I went to the market and pretended to be a cat. That is, I meowed a lot.
Seadall: Really? But I told you to ignore my reading.
Veyle: I thought I'd give it a try. You know, just for fun.
    " — Veyle andSeadall,C Support andB Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  109. "I mean, I was apart from my sibling for so long, I feel like I don't know what it's like. Not really. It's hard to make up for all the lost time. I guess I don't know how to act like...family. To be honest, I'm jealous of you. You get to spend so much time with your sister." — Veyle toClanne,B Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  110. "Veyle: I've given it some more thought, and I really would like us to be sisters.
Nel: Your feelings matter to me, Veyle. But I am perplexed by this sentiment. Friendship between us seems to be insufficient for you. Why?
Veyle: I'm glad that we're friends, and for a while I thought that might be enough. But when you talked about what happened with your other siblings, I began to feel differently. Sisters don't have to betray or hurt each other. Family doesn't have to be like that. Why can't we be the kind of sisters who spend our time chatting over good spicy food? [...] I'll never forget the time I spend with my sister, and I'm sure you won't either. So if that thought brings you even a little bit of happiness...please do reconsider.
    Nel: Hmmm... Very well.
    Veyle: Really? You mean it?!
Nel: I, too, possess a yearning for a familial bond and to care for those close to me. If this is your sincere wish, and if I have the power to grant it...then let it be so. Thank you for your kindness and your generosity...and your perseverance, sister.
Veyle: No, thank you, Nel. Hearing you say that makes me happy beyond words!
    " — Veyle andNel,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  111. "I have a dream for my future. That's what gives me the strength to grow stronger and stronger." — Veyle,if six or more stats increased on a level up,Fire Emblem Engage
  112. "You've gotten even stronger, I can tell! All I want is to be strong enough to fight like you do." — Veyle, during exploration if Alear leveled up in battle,Fire Emblem Engage
  113. "Power is like fire. The greater it is, the more damage it does. I prefer small fires like this one." — Veyle, at the campfireon the Somniel,Fire Emblem Engage
  114. "I'm happy I got stronger, but also scared. I don't want this power to be used to hurt any of you." — Veyle, during exploration if Veyle leveled up in battle,Fire Emblem Engage
  115. "I like how there's nothing to be afraid of here. But...I still feel like hiding sometimes." — Veyle, at the plazaon the Somniel,Fire Emblem Engage
  116. "The party...it was amazing. Everyone was so nice to me, and you wouldn't believe all the good conversations I had. I felt like I was dreaming." — Veyle toPandreo,A Support,Fire Emblem Engage
  117. "I lose track of time when I'm talking to you. I just never want the moment to end." — Veyle toTiki,B Bond,Fire Emblem Engage
  118. "Oh, good morning. I'm proud of who I've become. But it never would have happened if I hadn't fought for it. It wasn't easy. Being here right now...it was all worth it!" — Veyle,C Rank Wake Up Event,Fire Emblem Engage
  119. "Impressed by Father's power? Fell Dragons are far beyond Divine Dragons." — Veyle,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  120. "Rest assured that I am Veyle. Yes, in fact, I am Veyle in her truest form. Only one of us deserves the honor of calling the great Fell Dragon her father. That honor belongs to me─and me alone!" — Veyle,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  121. "Veyle: You are not my sibling.
Alear: And you're not mine. Veyle is. Give her back.
Veyle: I am Veyle! And I'll prove it─here and now─by destroying you!
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  122. "Veyle: Now, had I known I had a sibling who survived the years...I would have killed you. I'd like to make sure I'm my Father's one and only child.
Alear: You want to be alone forever?
Veyle: Yes, that's right. I have no need for this sort of family, or friendships, or bonds of loyalty.
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  123. "Oh, how I wanted to find you. How I wanted to kill you. Queen Lumera's pet. The whimpering, pathetic worm. You are not my sibling." — Veyle toAlear,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  124. "Shut your mouth! You are nothing but a defect! Mark my words, you quivering little baby! You're gonna be dead soon!" — Veyle,Chapter 22,Fire Emblem Engage
  125. "Veyle: Hahaha! Now that was entertaining.
    Hortensia: What?!
Veyle: Hehehe, did you see his face? The shock! The betrayal!
Hortensia: Stop laughing! What's wrong with you?
    " — Veyle andHortensia,Chapter 10,Fire Emblem Engage
  126. "Veyle: Oh, that's right. I have an exciting surprise for you.
Corrupted Hyacinth: Ivy. And you, Divine Dragon. It's been some time, has it not? [...]
    Ivy: Father! You're alive?
Veyle: He's not. This is Corrupted Hyacinth. [...] Princess Ivy earned this.
    Ivy: Why me?
Veyle: For stealing the rings from Destinea Cathedral. Ever since then, I have longed for vengeance.
    Ivy: ...
Veyle: Hyacinth, I intended to give you the Ring of the Lady of the Plains. But your daughter stole it. [...]
Ivy: You would have me fight my own father?
Alear: No! You can't treat people like this! Don't you understand how cruel this is?
Veyle: Cruel? This is easily the most fun I've ever had.
    " — Veyle,Corrupted Hyacinth,Ivy, andAlear,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  127. "Ah, a new toy! I'm going to enjoy this. Can you defeat your old friend Marth?" — Veyle,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  128. "Veyle: Quite a backdrop, isn't it? Florra looks much prettier up in flames. I knew you'd come if I set it ablaze. And the Corrupted that frightened you so much... They're not so scary this way, are they?
Alear: Are you talking about King Hyacinth?
Veyle: Yes. I thought seeing him would make you smile. We are friends, after all! Oh, but we had a falling out, didn't we? The other Veyle must be simply heartbroken.
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  129. "Veyle: Ah! My loyal knight, Mauvier. Aren't you going to protect me anymore?
Mauvier: My time with the Four Hounds is behind me. I will not protect you.
Veyle: Same as ever, Mauvier. You won't acknowledge me. You won't even say my name. Well, don't worry, I haven't forgotten your reward. How about a swift death?
    " — Veyle andMauvier,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  130. "The Draconic Time Crystal. Of course, you had it with you all along. Sorry, but I just had to take it back again. I grabbed it during your little chat with Zephia. Amazing you didn't notice. You must not be very bright." — Veyle,Chapter 10,Fire Emblem Engage
  131. "Marni, that was simply pathetic. An attack like that couldn't put a scratch on Father's gift. [...] I take it you were trying to free me, fool that you are. But as it turns out, you have failed in your attempt." — Veyle,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  132. "Veyle: So, you're just going to betray me[, Mauvier]? Leave me sad and lonely again? And you,Brother/Sister. I thought you'd be happy to be reunited with me after...so long.
Alear: You are not our Veyle.
Veyle: This must be about my new look. Then you're not going to like this look either.
    (She summons Dark Emblem Marth.)
    Alear: Marth.
Veyle: His fellow Emblems, stolen away. You turned your back on him. Oh, lonely thing. Just like me. But I'm here for you, little Emblem. I'm all you need.
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 21,Fire Emblem Engage
  133. "Ah, how exciting this is. I hope they have the endurance to at least resist a little─it's no fun if they just die." — Veyle,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  134. "Veyle: Speaking of fun... All of the Emblem Rings are here. Six on your side, six on mine. There's no telling who might win.
    Alear: Veyle...
Veyle: Now then, Alear, let the killing begin.
    " — Veyle andAlear,Chapter 17,Fire Emblem Engage
  135. "I was expecting to get at least one [ring]. At least now we know that Lumera is dead." — Veyle,Chapter 5,Fire Emblem Engage
  136. "Oh, how I wanted these two. Marth...and Sigurd. After killing Lumera, I was forced to leave them back there with you. Do you have any idea how irritating that was for me?!" — Veyle,Chapter 10,Fire Emblem Engage
  137. "So, Ivy was scheming against us. She stole two Emblems from right under my nose... How irksome. Regardless, the advantage is mine. I have all of the rings they gathered. You shall all be destroyed. I will gut your allies, burn down your countries...and crush your spirits." — Veyle,Chapter 11,Fire Emblem Engage
  138. "Marni: Can we go after them, Lady Veyle? I'm itching for a rematch!
Veyle: Patience, Marni. If we wait, we can steal Solm's ring from them along with the others.
    " —Marni and Veyle,Chapter 12,Fire Emblem Engage
  139. "Veyle: You are a treasure, Marni.
Zephia: Isn't she just? The pride of the Four Hounds.
Marni: Hehe, you two really heap on the praise. That's why I love ya!
Griss: Heh... You're such a child. Praise is for chumps. It's much more fun to be punished.
Veyle: Worry not, Griss. You will soon have all the agony your heart could want.
Griss: That's what I like to hear! The perks of the gig right there.
    " — Veyle,Zephia,Marni, andGriss,Chapter 12,Fire Emblem Engage
  140. "Edelgard: True strength comes from aligning your will with that of an ally. You can't do all that you must on your own.
Veyle: I think so too. The other me didn't know that. That's why I want to always be with my friends.
    " —Edelgard and Veyle,A Bond,Fire Emblem Engage
  141. "Veyle: Stop...stop it right now! I don't want to go! Help me, Father! I beg of you!
Veyle: Papa isn't coming. He doesn't care. It's time now. Time to say goodbye.
    " — Veyle's dark and true personalities,Chapter 22,Fire Emblem Engage
  142. "They say you become a star in the sky when you die. I wonder...are Mama and Marni and the others up there somewhere? And what about the other me? Maybe...maybe she's a pretty star too." — Veyle,A Rank Wake Up Event,Fire Emblem Engage
  143. "I'm still a bit scared I'll fall asleep. I never want to wake up in an unfamiliar place like that again." — Veyle, exploration dialogue when revisiting theFort on the Border,Fire Emblem Engage
  144. "Veyle: I've parted ways with the other me, but... What do I do if I start having bad feelings again?
Dimitri: That's just another side of you. I don't think you need to ignore or deny that aspect of yourself.
    " — Veyle andDimitri,B Bond,Fire Emblem Engage
  145. "Ah... My head hurts. This worthless other me should just die. There is no purpose for that defect here." — Veyle: Fell Successorat the castle,Fire Emblem Heroes
  146. "The other Veyle does not seem to awaken here... Did you murder her for me? How sweet!" — Veyle: Fell Successoron the character status screen,Fire Emblem Heroes
  147. "I am Veyle, the Fell Princess and Father's only living child. Give me the Emblem Rings." — Veyle: Fell Successorwhen summoned,Fire Emblem Heroes
  148. "I seek the power of the Emblems who were summoned here, as well as the rings in which they reside. My interest lies not in how many humans you slay, Crush this world if you please, so long as I am satisfied." — Veyle: Fell Successor,Gate to Oblivion – C,Fire Emblem Heroes
  149. "Veyle: Huh... So you two are the Heroes who inherited father's blood. It is hard to believe there were survivors other than Alear. I am and shall be Father's only child. Even if you are from another world, I shall eliminate you, my siblings.
Rafal: Really? I had heard that members of the Order of Heroes cannot kill one another.
Zephia: Is that so? I do wonder if there is some sort of power restricting us, or perhaps it is simply policy. In any case, there is only one way to find out.
" — Veyle: Fell Successor,Rafal: Atoning Dragon, andZephia: Scheming Dragon,Beyond the Mirror – C,Fire Emblem Heroes
  150. "Tsk! It is unacceptable for me to be at the mercy of this foe! I...I must prove that I am not a defect. If I don't...Father will...dispose of me!" — Veyle: Fell Successor,Veyle: Fell Successor – A,Fire Emblem Heroes
  151. "Lilith: You said you found it odd when I told you I was Anankos's daughter and his faithful servant. But can you really say that you don't play the same roles for your father?
    Veyle: What are you—
Lilith: What if you were to fall while risking your life in battle? Would your father shed even a single tear for you?
Veyle: Obviously. I am his only child. Of course he would be sad.
Lilith: Are you sure? If so... Why can't you look me in the eye when you say that?
    Veyle: ...
" —Lilith: Silent Broodling and Veyle: Fell Successor,Veyle: Fell Successor – A,Fire Emblem Heroes
  152. "I am father's only child. I will inherit his power. How could he not love me? But...even if he doesn't, I will still fight for him. That is... That is what a child does for their father. I'm not like the other me, the defect, or that fool Alear! And I'm not a servant like you!" — Veyle: Fell Successor,Veyle: Fell Successor – S,Fire Emblem Heroes
  153. "I'm nothing like [Lilith]. Her father doesn't love her. He treats her like a servant, and she doesn't even try to deny it. ... Father... Please come to this world soon. Save me from these feelings of loneliness and helplessness. Stand by my side and tell me that you love me, your one and only child. Father, please. I wait for you... For as long as it takes." — Veyle: Fell Successor,Veyle: Fell Successor – S,Fire Emblem Heroes
  154. "I have nothing—no part of me nor any possession—that is completely my own. Nothing, except this one outfit." — Veyle: Fell Successorat the castle,Fire Emblem Heroes
