| “ | It is true that Prince Leif has brought all the rebellious children of North Thracia together in one, organized revolt... But if we strike them down now, when they all act as one and their morale is at its highest, their spirits will be broken. | ” | — Veld, toManfroy |

Veld (Japanese:ベルドVeld) was a dark bishop of theLoptr Church, the administrator of all of the cult's activities in theMunster District, and the wielder ofPetrify, a rare form of dark magic capable of petrifying its victims. He was responsible for theAed Massacre by informing KingTravant of the movements and vulnerability ofQuan andEthlyn as they travelled through theAed Desert, using the assassination of Quan as a means to turn North and South Thracia against each other.[1] During theGrannvale occupation of the Munster District, Veld acted as a benefactor to DukeRaydrik of Munster, providing him with theLoptr Sword and the support of the Loptrian forces.
Biography
Shortly after Raydrik's arrest ofLeif, Veld was present in the Munster Castle arena with Raydrik, watchingEyvel andNanna fight against gladiators set upon them by Raydrik. When Eyvel proved to overpower most of the enemies and resistMareeta's attempts to kill her, Veld cast Petrify upon her and turned her to stone, then left with Raydrik, allowing Leif to escape.
Later, when Leif's army returned to Munster for their final battle with Raydrik, Veld expressed his disgust with Raydrik's failures and threatened to cut his support, but nonetheless gave Raydrik a small unit of theWelkenrosen to use against Leif.[2] Following Raydrik's defeat, Veld turned him into the DeadlordMus and set him up to guard the Munster Loptrian temple against Leif's assault.[3] To assist him in battle,Manfroy entrusted Veld with five more Deadlords.[3] Ultimately, Leif's army defeated the Deadlords, unlocked Veld's chamber and defeated Veld.

Veld: I'm amazed the ruse has held for this long, frankly. The fools still think Travant was behind it all.

Did it never occur to them that Travant had no way of knowing when Quan's forces would march, or what route they would take?
