Uther (pronounced /ˈuθɚ/[key][2]; Japanese:ウーゼルUther) is the older brother ofHector and the marquess ofOstia during a large portion of the plot ofFire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
- Based on his larger role in Hector's tale, chapters numbered 15 or higher use the chapter number from Hector's tale as its primary chapter number for consistency.
It is known Uther succeeded one of his parents as marquess Ostia somewhat recently by the time of the start ofEliwood's and Hector's tales in the game, but it is unclear exactly when he became the marquess; a conversation betweenMatthew and Hector inchapter 7 back in Lyn's tale suggests he may have already become marquess by this point, but a few other points implying he'd only been marquess for time period shorter than the one-year gap between chapters 10 and 11 suggest otherwise. Regardless of any inconsistencies as to exactly when Uther became marquess, during this short time, it is said every other country had a spy working in Ostia wishing to make an assessment of him.
Uther first appears in Hector's tale inchapter 11, initially trying to talk Hector out of meeting up with Eliwood, seeingElbert's disappearance as of little concern to Ostian affairs. Once Hector makes his escape with Matthew in tow,Oswin warns Uther that he might endanger his health if he gets too worried.
His next appearance, and only physical appearance in Eliwood's tale, comes inchapter 22 (21 Eliwood), where he personally visits a fortress at the border betweenThria and Ostia to meet up with Hector and his growing army, in order to discussNergal's growing influence with theBlack Fang, and to direct his brother's army toward theNabata Desert inMissur in order to meetsomeone who can aid them. During this time, Hector notices Uther has taken on a strange coloring.
By the time Hector and his army return to Ostia inchapter 31 (29 Eliwood), Uther has died; a castle soldier decides to attempt to deceive Hector upon their arrival and instead states he'd left for a conference inEtruria the previous day and he'd be back in half a month's time (this is what a player of Eliwood's tale is led to believe for the rest of the game); nonetheless, Hector is able to figure out what really happened. It is further revealed in Hector's tale's version of thefinal chapter that Uther had died from the same illness that had killed their parents. Upon his return to Ostia, Hector succeeds his brother as marquess Ostia.

Trivia
- Should Hector have an A support withLyn,Florina, orFarina in the ending of his tale, it is implied that their first son would have been named Uther after this character. AsLilina is never stated to have any brothers, it is implied Hector never got the chance to do this.
- TheBrave Warrior variant ofHector inFire Emblem Heroes features Hector wearing Uther's armor.
