Unforgivable Sin (Japanese:許されざる罪Unforgivable Sin) is the fifth chapter of Part IV ofFire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. In this chapter,Tibarn and his army finally strike downIzuka, the insane creator of theFeral Ones.

Plot

Main articles:Unforgivable Sin/Script andUnforgivable Sin/Conversations

AsTibarn's army continues to travel to theTower of Guidance, they take a short break in the woods. At night, when most are sleeping, he speaks withElincia aboutAlmedha andPelleas (the latter only if he was spared). Tibarn remarks that he initially doubted that Almedha was reallyDheginsea's daughter, but came to believe it after seeing how fierce she truly was. Elincia, on the other hand, noticed how similar she andKurthnaga looked and acted. Tibarn then notes thatlaguz mainly identify others through scent, as well as that Almedha lacked a distinct beorc or laguz scent. Elincia then remarks that Almedha lost her powers when she became pregnant with Pelleas. Tibarn recounts an old song telling how, if a laguz and a beorc produceda child, the laguz parent would be punished, becoming something that was neither laguz nor beorc. Suddenly, CountBastian returns to Elincia from his long disappearance. Using flowery language, he then asks Tibarn, Elincia, andReyson to speak with him in private. Elincia is then led toGeoffrey,Volke, and a mysterious hooded man. Volke announces that "their captive" has disappeared, and Bastian pays him to recapture him. Bastian then asks Reyson and Tibarn to instead meet after they recover the escaped captive. He then takes the hooded man away, leading Elincia andLucia to wonder about the man's identity.

The next morning,Geoffrey begins his hunt for the escapee, asking Tibarn andRanulf to assist him. When Elincia and Lucia see him up so early, he bolts away, and the two follow him. When they catch up to the force, they find a horde ofFeral Ones being controlled by a strange man; Bastian clarifies that this man isIzuka, their escapee, and that he is the creator of the process of turning laguz into Feral Ones. Tibarn is infuriated by Izuka and threatens his life, while Izuka rebuffs him and calls the Feral Ones "humanity's greatest triumph." Elincia then orders the army to strike him down.

After Izuka dies, his "creations" soon follow. With him out of the way, Reyson sings agaldr for the repose of the laguz that were harmed by Izuka's practices.Jorge then calls Bastian, alerting him that the hooded man is out of control, andDaniel is unable to hold him down. As Bastian and the others go to the hooded man, he is revealed to be none other than DukeRenning, Elincia's uncle, albeit with his mind broken by the Feral One drugs. Away from Renning, Bastian reveals that Renning survivedDaein's attempts on his life, and, whenAshnard heard of this, he was kidnapped and fed the drug, turning into Bertram, one of theFour Riders. After Betram's defeat in the previous war, Bastian took him to his castle, and hired Volke to investigate into a cure for him. Volke and Bastian then later captured Izuka and interrogated him, where he unsuccessfully attempted to barter his freedom by offering to create an antidote. When Bastian is done speaking, Elincia asks Reyson to sing thegaldr of rebirth to Renning to heal his mind. Confident in his ability, boosted further by the order granted byAshera, Reyson then sings the galdr, returning Renning's sanity. Tibarn and Reyson then speak together, musing how they find it more difficult to see Ashera as a villain when her power aided in healing Renning.

Beginning log

Tibarn's group passes quickly through Salmo, drawing steadily closer to the imperial capital. The hardships of the journey lead the group to overcome their racial differences, and form bonds of friendship and trust. However, Almedha, the queen mother of Daein, remains alone and aloof, lost in thoughts of her own.Her son, Pelleas, also seems to guard some secret thought, tucked deep within his heart.

Strategy

This section has been marked as astub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Recruiting Volke is a net benefit in the long-run; Peshkatz alone may be considered worth his recruitment cost, and he unlocks abase conversation inEndgame (1) if he is alive that grants 20,000 gold.

Every enemy except Izuka is alaguz, so anti-laguz weapons are very effective. Particularly, this is the last battle with beast or bird laguz, and the second-to-last featuring dragon laguz (the last beingEndgame (3)), so anti-laguz weapons will have little use past this chapter.

On turn 1,Elincia can recruit Volke. Physically bulky units—likeTibarn andTauroneo—can draw in enemies;fire-wielding units like Bastian can quickly defeat the beast laguz, andCrossbow-wielders can one-shot the bird laguz. Tibarn can be sent toward Izuka before other units, to either defeat him outright or make him teleport away and stop summoning reinforcements.

Izuka will summon powerful reinforcements if he performs no other action that turn. As long as he has uses of Rewarp less, he will teleport himself away when a player unit is nearby, though this will prevent him from summoning reinforcements that turn. UsingVigor can allow a strong unit to approach and defeat Izuka without allowing him the chance to escape. With Balberith, Izuka has 53 magicalattack and 25 attack speed; most units should be able to avoid being double and survive one hit, even if Flare activates.
