Strategy
| This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This chapter can be completed relatively quickly and easily by quickly rushing the final missions as most survey spots and side mission rewards are on the more negligible side. However, if you have not unlocked it before throughNew Game+, make sure to complete all side missions inA Disquieting Report and to visit the housesurvey spot to unlock theDancer class.
If you plan to recruitLeonie, selecting theBuild Bridge strategy will be very useful as it significantly cuts down on the path you need to take to evacuate her. Note that even when the corresponding strategy is chosen and activated, Leonie will refuse to join your army if you killedJeralt two chapters prior.
The S Rank reward for this chapter's main mission, theScythe of Sariel, is a rare lance with solid stats and the added benefit of an increasedcritical rate. The mission itself mostly consists of reaching the different bosses and defeating them, with little else in the way. As such, a unit with highmovement, such as a cavalry or flying unit, or a quick infantry unit, can speed this chapter up significantly. Two of the bosses,Pallardó andMetodey, are sword wielders, so a lance user equipped with a battalion with theResist Swords ability is useful. TheDemonic Beast you fight afterward is weak toswords, lances, brawling, and thewind element. It has three health bars, so bringing units who can deal with at least three of them is recommended. Before defeating the Demonic Beast, send at least one strong combat unit to the northernmost stronghold. The boss,Solon will appear there and conjure a wall of darkness that will lock your units out until you have defeated his underlings, but this can be skipped by having your units enter the stronghold before he spawns.
Trivia
- The "Persuade Leonie" strategy in this chapter is the only strategy in the game that can fail due to the player's actions outside the chapter itself, as it can be failed by not recruitingByleth andJeralt two chapters prior.
