The Radiant Strategist is the fourth divineparalogue inFire Emblem Engage, unlocked upon the completion ofThe Ancestor. As a divine paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. In this chapter,Alear awakensEmblem Soren from his bracelet in hopes of having him join their team. Soren, however, is not interested in joining but at Alear's insistence, Soren asks at the very least to test their strength. Alear accepts Soren's challenge and so a battle begins in a place familiar to the emblem.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

This map's main gimmicks are the volcanoes that drop rocks on your head to the tune of 22 damage and the expanding smoke that cripples the defenses of whoever is standing in it. Also be wary of Soren and his Bolting tome, which can hit you from 10 range.

Your first order of business is to kill the two Thieves before they can steal the treasure chests and escape southward. As they so often are, Emblem Celica and Sigurd are particularly useful here. Once they're dead, continue southward and wipe out the concentration of Martial Monks in the center of the map. Once that's done, marshal your forces and head towards Soren. Try to maintain a brisk pace, as you don't want the smoke to impede your movement.

Unsurprisingly, approaching and subduing Soren without getting someone killed its the trickiest part. Soren and his flunkies will all aggro once you enter Soren's attack range. If you approach from the north, you can take advantage of the magma craters to severely damage the Lance Armors. Their greatlances grant you the first attack, allowing a decently strong caster to wipe them out on enemy phase. Soren is the main threat, but as long as he has Bolting out he is slow as dirt and can't counterattack. Overwhelm him with strong offensive units like Alear and Alcryst.

For all of your trouble, you get Soren as an Emblem. He comes packing Bolting, allowing your casters to rain death from the back line without fear of reprisal.

Trivia

  • This chapter is based off ofPart III, Chapter 8 fromFire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
  • Due to the high volume of enemy staff users in this chapter, the game automatically sets staff animations to player phase only for the duration of the battle.
