...This is war, isn't it? It's not at all like the games I used to play with my brother or Lyon. I never thought-- I didn't know it would be this...savage. Are words useless? Is strength all that matters?
— Eirika

The Fall of Renais (Japanese:ルネス陥落Renais's Fall) is the prologue chapter inThe Sacred Stones. In this chapter,Eirika andSeth escape from CastleRenais as it is invaded byGrado soldiers.

Plot

Main article:The Fall of Renais/Script

As with other games, this game starts with a narration of the history of the game's continent, in this case the history ofMagvel.

When troops fromGrado invadeRenais, KingFado sendsEirika, along with his loyal retainerSeth, to the neighboring country ofFrelia for safety. As the two exit the castle, they are confronted by the Moonstone,Valter, who attacks Seth, dealing him a nasty blow. Seth quickly grabs Eirika and escapes, riding off into the mountains. Later,O'Neill and two of his underlings catch up with Eirika and Seth, and engage them in battle. Having defeated their oppressors, Eirika and Seth continue their journey to Frelia.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

On easy mode the game provides a scripted tutorial to guide the player through this chapter; it is impossible to lose.

On normal and difficult modes, a similar strategy to the scripted tutorial may be used. TogetherEirika andSeth can take out the enemyFighters with ease.

Depending on which units the player wishes to use later in the game it may be recommended to not use Seth at all to provide Eirika with moreexperience, though both Eirika or Seth are fully capable of defeating all the units by themselves. Regardless of the player's goals, Eirika can bait the fighters and dodge their attacks fairly consistently. If Eirika is hurt use aVulnerary to keep herHP up.

Trivia

  • In the cutscene at Renais Castle before the beginning of the prologue, the twoGenerals use the unit data ofMoulder andVanessa.
  • On Easy Mode, Eirika is able to do a follow-up attack on O'Neill despite Eirika having only 9 in Speed and O'Neill having 7 in Speed.
  • On Easy Mode, Seth is scripted to defeat the second enemy with a Steel Sword. For unknown reasons, the durability of the Steel Sword does not decrease when Seth defeats the enemy.
