| “ | Life would be dull if everyone was happy and polite. Also, don't tell anyone about this. I have an image to maintain. | ” | — Tharja |

Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
She is among a group ofPlegians inChapter 9 defending the Castle's Courtyard duringEmmeryn's execution. Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Tharja is a level 10Dark Mage starting in Chapter 9 if Chrom talks to her. Her stats are a little low aside from magic, speed, and defense, with minimal increases on Lunatic. Her growths are interesting for a magic unit. She has a great HP and defense growths, but a quite bad resistance growth. Skill and luck are average, but her magic and speed are amazing. Her D in tomes lets her use more basic weapons aside from theElthunder in her inventory, and all other tomes that start with el.
Tharja starting at level ten allows her to instantly promote. She can make decent use ofDark Knight even with her strength growth being at 40%, and she can still use tomes.Slow Burn can be more helpful to her with her lowish skill growth at 40%.Lifetaker is also great with magical units not having the greatest defensive prowess.Sorcerer is probably the better option, as it makes better use of her magic with a +3 instead of +1, and more resistance since her growth is not great.Vengeance can be fine if the player is okay with Tharja being at a lower HP most of the time, andTomebreaker is great for a whopping fifty extra hit and avoid against tomes, which is further useful due to her having lower resistance than defense.
Her reclass options are not as bad as you may first think.Knight actually gives her a strength growth at 50%, with it being retained in its promotion choices.General givesRally Defense for a supportive ability, andPavise can help increase her survivability if it procs.Great Knight gives the covetedLuna skill, but it is not as great with her lower skill making the activation unreliable.Dual Guard+ helps Tharja defend herself or her paired up ally with an extra 10% activation of a dual guard to negate all damage dealt.
Archer is not as great with its 40% strength growth, butSkill +2 can be helpful with some inaccurate dark tomes. Same withPrescience, but only if she initiates combat.Hit Rate +20 can also be great, and it is not that time consuming, only requiring Tharja to be a level fiveSniper.Bowfaire is not super useful, as Tharja is better off using tomes after getting abilities not in the Dark Mage class tree.Bow Knight is a little better to get abilities with its 45% strength growth.Rally Skill is another supportive ability, andBowbreaker is an amazing utility ability for an extra fifty hit and avoid against bows, which is helpful against the plentifulSilver Bow-wieldingAssassins
Her daughterNoire is relatively flexible since she is better off in physical classes, with physical husbands being more plentiful than magical ones, and already having access to Luna by having the Knight class tree from Tharja.Gaius andDonnel in particular both pass downPegasus Knight fromFighter for Noire to have access to the elusiveGaleforce ability.

Personality
Tharja has something of an obsession withRobin; this manifests even in her support conversations with other characters.[3] She explains this obsession started the moment they crossed eyes and that she knew Robin was different.[4] This happens regardless of Robin's gender. Tharja follows Robin around for the first week after she joined the Army, and takes note on every move he/she makes, including how many books he reads daily, what he eats and how much he moves while sleeping.[5] This kind of dedication is exclusive towards Robin, and she is usually very cold, sarcastic and even rude to others.
Tharja comes from a very long line of shamans and sorcerers, and has been learning the dark arts since a very young age. Her spells can have both positive and negative effects on the target. For example she can hex someone to either cure or cause a disease. She can communicate with the dead as well, using her body as a medium or divine someone's future with the use of aManakete claw.[6]
She has the nicest body in the army and the darkest thoughts.
Interestingly, there is some conflict to her back story about her family relations. In her support withKellam she sends letters to her family and is familiar with them.[7] Yet when Tharja meets Robin, as described in the background site, she states that she has no family.[8]

Endings
Tharja, Grim Stalker (single ending)
Tharja's jealous obsession with Robin never subsided, even after her return to Plegia. Anecdotal evidence suggests she devoted most of her effort to hexes and curses that might reunite them.
Robin, High Deliverer & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Many wrote of Robin's legendary exploits, but accounts of his origins and character varied. Scholars, poets, and bards agreed on one thing alone—he loved his wife, Tharja, above all else.
Frederick, Cold Lieutenant & Tharja, Grim Stalker
As Ylisse's new knight captain, Frederick took charge of keeping the peace and training new recruits. Tharja's rare appearances at the training yard sent terrified recruits screaming into the night.
Virion, Archest Archer & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But a few well-placed hexes from his wife, Tharja, eventually brought the populace to their senses.
Stahl, Viridian Knight & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Stahl continued his service as an Ylissean knight and led crucial missions across the realm. His scatterbrained gaffes caused Tharja's eyes to roll, but the pair still made a happy life together.
Vaike, Zero to Hero & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Vaike returned to the streets that raised him and was welcomed as a hero and brother to all. Still, he was no match for Tharja, whose frequent curse slinging put her husband in an understandably foul mood.
Kellam, Oft Forgotten & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Even after her return to Plegia, Tharja kept an unhealthy obsession with Robin that led her to vanish for weeks or months at a time. Her husband's name has been lost to history.
Lon'qu, Gynophobe & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Lon'qu returned to Regna Ferox and served as Basilio's right-hand man. The cold Feroxi winters proved too much for Tharja, who left time and again in search of heat more in line with a Plegian desert.
Ricken, Upcoming Mage & Tharja, Grim Stalker
While continuing to study magic, Ricken realized how childish some of his actions had been. Tharja stayed with him and perfected her hexes, and the couple's magical talents soared.
Gaius, Candy Stealer & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Gaius never lost his sweet tooth, though he ultimately returned to less savory enterprises. Meanwhile, his wife, Tharja, set up shop and hexed people for a living. The pair were said to get many odd looks.
Gregor, Swell Sword & Tharja, Grim Stalker
After the war, Gregor briefly sank into a life of excess, but fear of his wife's hexes led him to resume work as a sellsword. Tharja secretly tagged along and used her talents to keep him safe.
Libra, Fetching Friar & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Many an unfortunate child found joy in the small orphanage Libra and his wife built after the war. The younger tykes were very fond of Tharja—who feigned annoyance, but secretly enjoyed the attention.
Henry, Twisted Mind & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Henry settled down with Tharja and turned out to be a surprisingly good father. Their newborn daughter's mood was said to shift violently, perhaps a side effect of having two dark mages for parents.
Donnel, Village Hero & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Donnel returned to his tiny village and built a happy life with his mother and his wife, Tharja. The latter never warmed to the villagers, but she was said to smile around her family.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Atrophy of Tharja was intended to appear inSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. It was featured inscreenshots of footage sent to the ESRB for age rating decision, but is missing in the final release;these screenshots were leaked several weeks prior to the game's Japanese release. It is unknown why the trophy was removed, but the fact it was done after it was reviewed by the ESRB may suggest it was done to achieve an E10+ rating. Later investigation of the game's files revealed that the trophy's files were removed entirely from the game.
