Monsters that occupy multiple spaces calculate the cost of moving at their top-left tile; they use the terrain effects of the tile relevant to combat (e.g. if a monster's top-left tile is on a forest and their top-right on a plain, they use the effects of the forest when a unit attacks the top-left tile and the effects of the plain when a unit attacks the top-right).

Vortex------------
Sections marked with indicate that units of the class type cannot cross this terrain under any circumstances. Fliers do not receive any stat boosts except HP recovery.

Flame terrain is applied to any flammable terrain[a] within the area-of-effect of any fire-basedGambit orStaggering Blow;[b] the HP penalty applies, but all other stat boosts and movement costs are retained from the original terrain.

Vortex terrain is applied to four spaces at the start ofCindered Shadows Chapter 6; it retains all the features of the terrain it is applied to, but preventsYuri,Balthus,Constance, andHapi from entering the space.

Fire Emblem Engage

InEngage, Terrain is divided into two types; permanent terrain that is part of the map, and temporary overlapping terrain that is usually time-limited and can be overwritten by other effects that alter the terrain. The effects of any given space are calculated as its permanent terrain effect combined with any overlapping terrain effect present, noted on the map as[Space] + [Overlapping Effect] when viewing the space. For example, a woods tile that has been set on fire byBlazing Lion will display asWoods + Flames and will have both the effects of increasing avoid and dealing damage to units at the start of their turn. Themovement costs of both effects will also be combined, resulting in the space requiring 4 movement to enter.
