Tanya (Japanese:タニアTanya) is a playablebow fighter inFire Emblem: Thracia 776.

Biography

Tanya,Dagdar, andMarty arrived inFiana whenLeif and the Freeblades fought to driveMunster's occupying force out of Fiana, and they joined them fight against the occupation. While there she talked withOsian, where they had a heated exchange. She accompanied Leif's forces until he was captured byRaydrik, after which she accompanied Dagdar back to their stronghold on Mount Violdrake to lead his bandits in assaulting Munster.

They returned to Dagdar's mansion, but once there one of his bandits,Gomez, led a mutiny and they were attacked. Leif's forces intercepted this and saved them. During this she once again talked with Osian. Afterwards they rejoined Leif's army. Tanya accompanies Leif's liberation army until at least the liberation of Munster.

Role

Tanya is a playable character. InChapter 1, Tanya, along withDagdar andMarty, appear as player units on turn 3. She is removed from the party at the end ofChapter 3. If Dagdar was dead or captured by the end of Chapter 3, Tanya rejoins at the end ofChapter 8. If Dagdar and Tanya were still alive and uncaptured at the end of Chapter 3, andRumei was captured in Chapter 8, the player get access toChapter 8x. In Chapter 8x, Dagdar and Tanya rejoin on turn 1. In the same chapter, Tanya has access to the hiddenImmortal skill up to turn 15.

Analysis

Tanya is the first archer to join the army, joining alongsideDagdar andMarty. She suffers from many weaknesses, one of which is her low startingweapon level. The bestbows inThracia 776 require a B rank or higher, and since Tanya cannot counter most enemies, it will take a long time for her to be able to use them. The C and D-rank bows are very heavy and have low hit rates, while the two E-rank bows have low might. Aside from this, Tanya has a very low basestrength of 3, and a mediocre strength growth of 35%, which will further dampen her damage output. Tanya is also locked to bows, meaning that she will never be able to attack at melee range orcapture enemy units, thus weakening her viability. Tanya also has poor durability, which hurts her ability to be used on enemy phase (most notablychapter 11x) and ability to take hits from foes that can counterattack at range.

Tanya does have some strengths, such as a highspeed growth of 70% and aFCM of 2. She also has high speed base, which allows her to reliably double, her base skill is passable and both luck and skill have high growths too. However, Tanya's speed will not be nearly enough to make up for her low strength, and an FCM of 2 is still too low consider critical hits a consistent offensive option. Her constitution is also very low, as even the lightest bows will weigh her down by 2, while theSilver andBrave Bows will weigh her down by 4 and 5 after promotion respectively.

Tanya gives asupport bonus toOsian andDagdar, two excellent units, and the former also supports her back. As such, she can be deployed solely to give support bonuses to these two. The player should be careful if they choose to do so, however, as she has low HP and Defense and can easily be killed by enemies if she is put in dangerous situations. Fortunately, her low constitution means she can be used ascapture bait, which weakens the captor while keeping Tanya safe, provided the captor is killed in time.
