TheSword Knight orSword Cavalier (Japanese:ソードナイトSword Knight) is a class ofsword-wielding knights on horseback which has appeared inFire Emblem: Path of Radiance,Radiant Dawn, andEngage. It is one of four classes, the Sword Knight,Lance Knight,Axe Knight, andBow Knight, which are divisions of theCavalier class. The Sword Knight is playable only inPath of Radiance andEngage, and there are no playable sword knights inRadiant Dawn.
Sword Knights use swords, so they can attack from adjacent spaces. They have useful stats in all categories, and their high movement lets them move around quickly, although they cannot cross certain terrain. Since they have lowresistance, like other physical classes, they are often vulnerable to magic-using enemies.
InPath of Radiance, Sword Knights can promote toPaladins. InRadiant Dawn, they change class to theBlade Paladin class and can promote again to theGold Knight class. InEngage, they promote into Paladin orWolf Knight.
